Sooners' Kendal Thompson arrested Kendal Thompson, who is vying to win Oklahoma's three-way quarterback competition, was arrested Friday morning on misdemeanor complaints of public intoxication and interference with official process, according to the Norman Police Department. Thompson, 20, was arrested about 2:15 a.m. after police responded to a loud party call. As they approached the apartment complex where the party was, police noticed Thompson passed out on a nearby hill. According to police, Thompson's "speech was very slow" and "not making sense with incomplete sentences."

Wide receiver Ivan McCartney is returning to West Virginia's roster six months after leaving the team. West Virginia football spokesman Mike Montoro on Monday confirmed McCartney's return. McCartney left for personal reasons last November after making nine catches for 112 yards in his junior season. McCartney was third on the team in 2011 with 49 catches for 585 yards.
David Cornwell eligible to play ESPN 150 quarterback David Cornwell (Norman, Okla./North) was declared eligible to play his senior season by the Oklahoma high school governing body Friday. Cornwell's attorney, Mitch McCuistian, said he received an email from the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association's attorney, letting him know Cornwell had been granted a fifth year of eligibility. Virginia Tech vs. West Virginia College Football Rivalry Renewed College football fans, especially those in Virginia, will be happy to hear that the coveted Black Diamond Trophy will soon be up for grabs again. In 2021 the Virginia Tech Hokies and the West Virginia Mountaineers will renew their rivalry with a home-and-homes series. The Mountaineers will host the game in 2021. The Hokies will host the next matchup the very next year in 2022. Big 12 unveils bowl game lineup The Big 12 will have three bowl games against SEC teams each postseason. Big 12 officials Friday announced their future seven-game bowl lineup, which is highlighted by the previously announced 12-year Sugar Bowl partnership for the leagues to match their champions. If one or both champions make it into the new College Football Playoff, other top league teams would be selected for the game in the Superdome. All of the deals start next year, coinciding with the new playoff. Other than the Sugar Bowl, all the agreements are for the 2014-19 seasons. A deal with the Russell Athletic Bowl in Orlando gives the Big 12 a game in Florida. There are also new agreements in place with the Liberty Bowl in Memphis and the Armed Forces Bowl in Fort Worth, Texas. Knight, a redshirt freshman, rushed for 103 yards on 13 carries and threw three touchdown passes -- two to Jalen Saunders -- and No. 16 Oklahoma beat the Warhawks 34-0 on Saturday night.
