WR Greg Dent charged with rape Florida State Seminoles receiver Greg Dent was arraigned on second-degree sexual assault charges Monday, a felony count that likely means an indefinite suspension for the senior-to-be and a potential jail term of up to 15 years. Dent was arrested Sunday night on a single count of sexual assault on a victim over the age of 12. In Monday's hearing, Leon County Court judge Robert R. Wheeler assigned a $15,000 bond on the condition Dent would have no contact with the alleged victim, who is a longtime friend, according to the police report. Dent was one of Florida State's top receivers this spring and was expected to compete for a starting job. Dent's attorney, Tim Jansen, said FSU coach Jimbo Fisher was aware of the incident. University policy requires any student-athlete facing felony charges be suspended, but no official statement had been released by the school at the time of Dent's arraignment. Re: Atlantic Coast Conference Top 10 Things Syracuse Should Look Forward To There's plenty to be excited about in Syracuse's new conference home, but what are we MOST looking forward to as members of the ACC? At this time next week, Syracuse will no longer be a member of the Big East -- the conference it started -- and instead will be joining the Atlantic Coast Conference. We've known about this move since September of 2011, and still, it's weird now that we're just days away from making it official. The TNIAAM staff has already compiled some thoughts saying goodbye to Big East football and basketball, but now it's time to look to the future. What are Syracuse fans supposed to be excited for once we join the ACC next Monday? http://www.nunesmagician.com/2013/6...top-10-things-syracuse-should-look-forward-to

Atlantic Coast Conference Bowl Tie-ins Six-Year Relationships set to begin following the 2014 regular season. GREENSBORO, NC – Atlantic Coast Conference Commissioner John Swofford announced Wednesday partnerships with five football bowl games which will be effective for the six years of postseason play following the 2014 through 2019 seasons. The partnerships are in addition to what the Conference previously announced, * and have the ACC providing a team in each of the six years to the The Military Bowl presented by Northrop Grumman The AdvoCare V100 Bowl A new bowl game in Detroit, Mich., hosted by the Detroit Lions Football Club The Beef ‘O’Brady’s Bowl in St. Petersburg, Fla. The Birmingham (Ala.) Bowl games in those seasons when the games are scheduled to be played after Christmas. The Birmingham Bowl will be a second conditional bowl for the ACC, if it has an available team beyond the Beef ‘O’Brady’s Bowl choice. The ACC is the first conditional choice of the Birmingham Bowl, should either of that bowl’s primary partners not have an eligible team. “It’s very satisfying to finalize our future ACC bowl partnerships that collectively provide great flexibility, matchups and depth for our 15 member schools,” said ACC Commissioner John Swofford. “We are pleased to continue our relationship with the Military and AdvoCare V100 Bowls while beginning new ones with the new bowl game in Detroit, hosted by the Detroit Lions; the Beef ‘O’Brady’s bowl game and Birmingham http://www.theacc.com/#!/news-detail/ACC-Announces-Final-Five-Bowl-Game-Partnerships_08-07-13_2tmm1i * - As in the past, the ACC champion will continue to be committed to the Orange Bowl in Miami – unless it qualifies for the four-team national championship playoff. During those years in which the Orange Bowl plays host to a semifinal playoff game, the ACC champ will go to either the Fiesta or Chick-fil-A bowls. From there, new bowl lineup gets a little complicated: The Russell Athletic Bowl will have the first selection of ACC teams after the Orange Bowl and the playoff. As part of that agreement, an ACC team will also play in the Capital One Bowl whenever the Orange Bowl hosts a Big Ten team to play the ACC champion. The next four teams in the pecking order will go to the Sun Bowl in El Paso, Tex., Belk Bowl in Charlotte, the Pinstripe Bowl in New York and (on a rotating basis) either Music City or Gator bowls. http://acc.blogs.starnewsonline.com...unces-seven-bowl-tie-ins-for-new-playoff-era/

Johnson leads Miami past FAU, 34-6 Before the season was 90 seconds old, Miami dropped an interception that would have been a sure-fire touchdown, committed a penalty on special teams and was flagged for delay of game prior to their first play from scrimmage. So there was some rust. None of it was on Duke Johnson. Johnson had career-highs of 186 yards and 19 carries before departing in the third quarter, receiver Herb Waters took a pitch on an end-around for a 63-yard rushing score, and Miami beat Florida Atlantic 34-6 on Friday night in the season opener for both teams.

Tajh Boyd (5 TDs) helps No. 8 Clemson outlast No. 5 Georgia As far as Tajh Boyd is concerned, Clemson's victory against Georgia wasn't a statement as much as a step toward much greater goals. Boyd threw three touchdown passes and ran for two others as Clemson defeated No. 5 Georgia 38-35 on Saturday night. It was the Tigers' second straight win against a top-10 opponent from the Southeastern Conference. While the victory against LSU in the Chick-fil-A Bowl left Clemson with a strong finish to last season, this win gave the Tigers a strong start on what they hope is a special season.
