EA has high hopes for the launches of PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. In a call reporting EA’s first-quarter earnings for the 2014 fiscal year today, EA COO Peter Moore explained that Microsoft and Sony are reporting upward trends for their respective console releases.

According to Moore, consumers “are acutely aware that new hardware is coming,” and their excitement is growing. Moore says that Microsoft reports Xbox One pre-orders trending ahead of Xbox 360, while Sony believes PlayStation 4 will be its “biggest hardware launch ever.”

Moore noted that EA believes both new consoles are “spectacular” and expects “millions of consumers to make the transition” to better graphics and more online features. He noted that EA’s goal is to “make moving day painless” by minimizing inconveniences as gamers transition from the current generation.

This comes just a few days after Microsoft’s Aaron Greenberg tweeted that demand for Xbox One is “through the roof,” and after several retailers suspended pre-orders for the new console.

Meanwhile, GI.biz reports that Baird analyst Colin Sebastian believes Xbox One could outship PlayStation 4 this fall.

"Despite losing the headline battle at E3, Microsoft's Xbox One appears to be regaining some momentum, in part due to the used and online policy tweaks,” Sebastian noted. “Importantly, our supply chain checks suggest Microsoft may have the benefit of a 2-3x unit advantage at launch compared to Sony's PS4."

Customers can currently pre-order PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on most retailers for post-launch delivery, though supplies of Day One and Launch editions are largely exhausted.

I realize this is a BGD thread, but it actually says the Xbone is beating the 360s number from 2005, and that one analyst thinks that Microsoft could ship more units to retailers than the ps4 even though it is rumored that Microsoft is behind schedule and has a shortage.

Thank you. I read the article twice looking for what the OP put in the thread title.
