Buffalo Bulls continue to push a New York State of mind The University at Buffalo has been re-branding everything this summer. The school is not officially changing anything but the Athletics Department, under the guidance of new director Danny White, is doing everything he can within the confines of the State University system. First it was the basketball court and now it seems the football jerseys are getting a subtle upgrade. Manhattan wins MAAC title, earns NCAA tournament berth Manhattan's first trip to the NCAA tournament in a decade came at the expense of rival Iona one year after the Gaels beat the Jaspers for the conference championship. Yup, this was one fun victory for George Beamon and the Jaspers. Beamon scored 16 points and Manhattan beat Iona 71-68 on Monday night for the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference tournament title. Louis Orr out at Bowling Green Bowling Green has parted ways with coach Louis Orr after seven seasons, the school announced Tuesday. Orr, who guided the Falcons to an NIT appearance in 2009 and CIT berth in 2012, posted a 101-121 record at the school. Manhattan keeps Steve Masiello Manhattan has decided to retain coach Steve Masiello and will reinstate him once he completes his undergraduate degree, the school announced Monday. Masiello will be placed on unpaid leave until he completes his undergraduate degree at Kentucky, Manhattan said in a statement. Associate head coach Matt Grady will serve as interim head coach during Masiello's absence. "I am extremely grateful and humbled by the opportunity to continue as the head men's basketball coach at Manhattan College," Masiello said in the statement. "I made a mistake that could have cost me my job at an institution I love. Details matter. "Manhattan College has shown me a great deal of compassion and trust during this process, and I will do everything in my power to uphold that trust. MAC, ESPN agree to new deal The Mid-American Conference and ESPN have agreed to a new 13-year media rights deal through 2026-27, an industry source told ESPN. The new deal between the MAC and ESPN rewrites the current eight-year deal, which was set to expire in 2017.
