As this is going to be the season of "When is the Aldridge Trade Happening?" and we've already had about three threads mostly about it, how 'bout we make a single thread? Let's try to keep this on topic and try not to go more than two or three posts without a suggested trade. Unfortunately, TradeMachine no longer works. You can use it, but it just says every single trade works, whether or not it's remotely feasible. Nonetheless, you can use it to compare salaries. I'm still fixated on a trade that involves Chicago (because of the whole Rose-and-LA-sharing-agents thing, and also that they have the best cost-free assets in the rights to Mirotic and CHA's pick [albeit top 10 protected]) and Houston (because they HAVE to trade Asik now). So I'll kick off with this one: Portland gives up Lamarcus AND Wesley Matthews and gets: Asik Taj Gibson Kirk Hinrich (why? because he can be played next to both Lillard and CJ, and has shown that he can defend SGs, because that's what he did last year. Plus his contract runs out soon) One/both of rights to Mirotic, CHA's pick Chicago gives up Boozer, Gibson, Hinrick, Mirotic/CHA pick and gets: Aldridge Wesley Jeremy Lin Houston gives up Asik and Lin and gets Boozer Why the relevant parties do it: With Chicago it's obvious (although no doubt Denny thinks they don't get enough): they get an all-star PF, they KEEP Noah, and they get a starter at SG and a backup PG into the bargain! The only barrier to them doing this is that they're cheap. But if Rose makes enough noise, it might force their hand. With Portland: we get young cheap assets and a guard who will allow Lillard and CJ to play to their strengths. Houston is probably the team that this makes the least sense for, although in the short term they certainly improve because they add Boozer at their position of most need (who is their current starter at PF? Patterson?) Probably they can do better. BUT: suppose they tell Mo Williams "if you sign with us you're our starter at PG even tho' we can't pay you more than Miami or Memphis" - he's actually ideal for them because he can be to Harden what he was to Lebron, a scorer off the ball. Then, effectively, they improve at two positions (because Mo Williams fits their style better than Lin does).
Here's a suggestion: If you don't think Aldridge will/should be traded, or You're sick of threads about Aldridge trades... THEN FUCK OFF TO ANOTHER THREAD. WHY ARE YOU EVEN READING THIS?
I don't see the Bulls trading 3 PFs in one deal, nor the Charlotte pick. They don't want Jeremy Lin. Wes won't start for the Bulls. Jimmy Butler will start. He averaged 13.3 points, 5.2 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.3 steals per game in the playoffs last season. He guarded LeBron in the Heat series. As a starter, he averaged 14.5 PPG, 7 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.8 steals, and shot .457 and .458 from 3pt. I also find it strange that you would want to trade for the Bulls backup PF and backup C from two seasons ago.
did anybody see LMA answering questions on twitter the other day? im trying to find them right now but he answered about what he thought about the offseason moves, how him and t-rob will blend together and a couple of other interesting topics. im trying to find them right now but if somebody else is more twitter savvy then myself please feel free to put them up here. He said he really liked the moves and was excited to see what we have in training camp. was also excited about the addition of trob and said that Damian is going to be a beast. I know you cant always believe what people say but atleast he acknowledged the questions from fans when he really didn't have to. I personally don't think LMA is for sure out the door. if we win next year and Damian and nic takes that next step I think LMA stays
To whom? Why? If Detroit wants to trade a younger player at Aldridge's position, you have to think he's not as good. If Detroit trade Monroe, wouldn't it make a LOT more sense if it's for a SF or PG?
My other suggestion is Aldridge for Ibaka + Steven Adams (+ Deandre Liggins, because we know that OKC is obsessive at staying below the luxury tax threshold) I know people hate this one because it helps OKC. But at this point I don't care. Do you hate it more than the Chicago one? I think I prefer that one because I think Mirotic could be good and provide scoring in the post. A flaw with both of my suggestions is that both Taj Gibson and Serge Ibaka sort of duplicate Thomas Robinson. But both of them are better defenders, and I guess I don't see the bright future for T-Rob that y'alls do.
I think it would take a three way; sending Aldridge to Houston, batum to Detroit and asik, Monroe and parson to Portland. Obviously there are other players to make salaries match
