Does this mean you'll get us some better replays?

What would really be awesome is if they could come up with a high quality computer-based officiating. No biases....

Yeah. Because the NBA won't have their hand in the cookie jar with that one....

Computer-based officiating could easily be manipulated. It's a wonder people don't think about that aspect of it.

I think they figure it can't be worse than it already is. NBA is far and away the worst officiating of any pro or major college sport IMO. And they're clearly already influenced to favor stars and star teams.

If they install time lapse cameras in the truck we might actually get to see you working.

Ironic you say this son.......at the PGA Championship we used 2 GoPro cameras on high speed time lapse to show how much we do over the course of a day. I'll try to get the footage.....pretty cool.

Nothing ironic about it. You told your wife about it and she mentioned it to me after we had...

Whats to say they can't program certain variables? Computer officiating will never happen. The moment a call goes wrong they will want the human refs back. People just need to think about it for 2 seconds and they'll realize just how asinine computerized officiating sounds.

Nah. I can tell they really wanted it.

It's cool, you can have the victory if it makes you feel better. I'm okay accepting defeat if it helps someone feel good about themselves. :)

Computerized reffing could be set up like a modern car with regular and sport modes, but it would have finesse and physical settings for the expected tone of any given game. You could even have the teams request what settings they want, and if there's no agreement, go with the default, where everything is called exactly as the rules are written.

Job Killer. And that's not the only reason why it's a bad idea.

No basketball game at ANY level is officiated by the letter of the law. You ref by advantage disadvantage. "Is the big man gaining an advantage by being in the key for 4 seconds? No." Then there is no reason to make a call. If the game was called the way you want it, there wouldn't be a game. There would be a 3 second call damn near every play and we wouldn't get to watch basketball we would watch whistles.
