Without a contract into the start of training camp, free agent forward Mickael Pietrus will scour the market over the next few weeks in hopes – and expectation – of a full salary guarantee to sign with an NBA team, a league source told RealGM.

Pietrus has worked out with several teams, including the San Antonio Spurs two weeks ago, and the 31-year-old recently rejected a training camp invitation from a team, a source said.

Pietrus has spent the offseason regaining the form that made him one of the NBA’s most energetic defending wing players with the Golden State Warriors, Orlando Magic, Phoenix Suns and Boston Celtics.

Pietrus signed a free agent deal with the Toronto Raptors last season, but he fell out of the rotation late in the season, when the team accommodated its bevy at the wing.

At 6-foot-6, Pietrus has averaged 8.3 points, 3.1 rebounds and 35.5 percent three-point shooting in 10 NBA seasons. Out of France, he was the Warriors’ 11th overall pick in the 2003 NBA draft and averaged 11.1 points and 4.5 rebounds for Golden State in 2006-07.
