Luis Suarez marked his Barclays Premier League return with two goals as Liverpool beat Sunderland 3-1 at the Stadium of Light. Daniel Sturridge opened the scoring as the ball appeared to hit his arm as he scored from a corner before Suarez ensured the visitors held a two-goal advantage at the break courtesy of a close-range finish. Although Sunderland rallied with Emanuele Giaccherini’s goal early in the second period, Liverpool sealed the three points late on as Suarez scored thanks to a Sturridge assist for the second time in the game.
