Aldridge has really played well this season. I have been impressed with him fighting for quality interior shots. Our team reminds me of the mid 90’s Rockets teams with Hakeem when they first won a title, we can surround the perimeter with deadly three point shooters. Aldridge has really been dominant inside scoring if the defense plays him with single coverage, and if they double he is finding the open man. Obviously Akeem was on another level defensively but if Aldridge continues to work for close attempts our offense will roll. Yes Paul George was impressive on Monday, but I’d much rather have an offense based on a dominant post player getting shots within 10 feet, or kicking it to wide open 3 points; than relying on a guard being able to make tough contested three pointers.

The hard thing for Wes is teams will stop doubling off of him if he continues to shoot so well. We are already seeing some of that, there are games he only gets a few shots since the defense keys on him at the perimeter. It really opens up the floor for Aldridge and others to score inside.

LMA does have our team's best DRtg (103), so he is as close as we'll come to Hakeem on our team.

Funny, that Rockets team was my favorite in history outside any Blazers squad and LaMarcus' now my favorite player. Totally agree on the inside out style of play being the best. Most people who harp on LA's flaws fail to see just how important the ability to command a double team truly is to an offense.

How cool would it be if we ended up dominating the regular season behind Matthews and having him win MVP while not being on the all star ballot

Would be awesome. Man, I'd love to see Matthews on the All Star team. That would be amazing.

Walks into thread...check's standings...sees the top teams from last year at all taking regular season seriously and that Blazers have 2nd best record in the NBA. Celebrates in thread.

If it happened, it'd be absolutely insane; the way Matthews has used the All Star thing to motivate him, I'd almost hate to see him win MVP. He might actually take it easy out there. :ghoti:

Not sure how seriously people are taking it. Wesley Mathews is the 3rd best player on this team. He's playing great, better than I think anyone imagined, but there's no way he wins MVP.

ANY MVP talk in early december is an absolute joke. That's what I'm saying.

We should trade LMA while his value is this high.

Serious Question: What topic of conversation ISN'T a "joke" this time of the season? It seems like no matter what topic you name some jackass can say it's too early to have a serious conversation. Shrug.
