As in any year, there are a LOT of lies from politicians. So, after combing through all the lies, Politifact has chosen the one and only "Lie of the Year"- the lie that stands out above all lies.

    [envelope please]

And the recipient of the Lie of the Year for 2013 goes to............................

    The President.

Give him a hand, ladies and gentlemen! [clap clap clap clap]

    http://nbcpolitics.nbcnews.com/_new...ealth-care-promise-named-lie-of-the-year?lite

Fact-checking organization Politifact has named their “Lie of the Year,” and it’s bad news for the White House and the Affordable Care Act.

President Barack Obama’s often-repeated assertion that “If you like your health care plan, you can keep it,” won the ignominious honor for 2013, the group announced.

In a blog post, Politifact– which is affiliated with the Tampa Bay Times – said Obama’s promise was “impossible to keep” and has resulted in a “real hit to his credibility.”

“So this fall, as cancellation letters were going out to approximately 4 million Americans, the public realized Obama’s breezy assurances were wrong,” editor Angie Drobnic Holan wrote. “Boiling down the complicated health care law to a soundbite proved treacherous, even for its promoter-in-chief. Obama and his team made matters worse, suggesting they had been misunderstood all along.”

She added that readers in an online poll “overwhelmingly” agreed with the decision.

We were lied into transferring massive amounts of money from the citizens' purses to the treasuries of the insurance companies.

    Talk about corporate welfare.

These days I hear more republicans use it as way of mocking dems. I guess we both hear what we want to hear though. :)

You really REALLY need to get out more. How is it in that cave you have been living in?

Rachel Maddow: How George W. Bush failed the GOP

    December 11, 2013. (2013 Julius)

But part of the reason it may be taking so long already is those lost years: the period from 2000 to 2008 that effectively obviated the authority and the leadership potential of all of Washington’s Republican elites. The George W. Bush administration didn’t just cast too much shade on the next generation of leadership — it also apparently poisoned the ground.

If you find christianity as odd and oppresive as I do then there are certain issues you will never never agree with the pope on. As far as popes go though, this one is the boss.

Long article, rambling on about a number of topics, but still a good read. It starts by saying PolitiFact got it wrong!

    http://online.wsj.com/news/articles/SB10001424052702303932504579256300070093302

    PolitiFact's Forked Tongue
The site once vouched for its "lie of the year."

PolitiFact.com, the Tampa Bay Times's "fact checking" operation, is out with its "Lie of the Year," and it's a doozy of dishonesty: "If you like your health care plan, you can keep it.' "

Just to show how fast the news can move, back in September this columnist tweeted: "If 'I didn't set a red line' isn't named 'Lie of the Year,' @PolitiFact is a state propaganda agency." "I didn't set a red line"--the reference was to Syria's use of chemical weapons, in case you've forgotten--didn't even make the top 10. Yet our September tweet proved to be mistaken: We cannot fault PolitiFact for the lie it chose instead.
