They did a GREAT job! I only hope we can make the same great decisions when we change our Logo/Court/Uniforms.

That second one is terrible. Those shoes are drawn so poorly. The "H" on the chest is a joke. Shadows on the thorax and abdomen, but nowhere else? Heck, every single individual component is poorly designed - the lines are all awful.
The original Hornet was pretty bad - but they should have just reused it, because it's way better than this new one.

I think it looks bad. Especially the second one--has this stoner rape-y kind of vibe to it, mixed in with a little retarded child. Ick. First one is less obnoxious.

Meh, people have been designing logos exactly like this for 20 years. It's boring and completely interchangeable. If it were me, I'd tell the design to simplify the first version to focus on the wings and stinger and make it much less detailed. Turn it from a cartoon into an icon.

I think that's the first thing that jumped out at me... I don't hate the first one (I hadn't seen the second one) but it seems like the Mavs or Nets or any number of other, vaguely shield-like logos that seems to use the same approach to line weights and color contrast.

It seems likely that the NBA has some uber-brand guidelines that nudge all of the new logos in this direction. It makes it easier to plug them in and use them, I guess, but it reduces the variety and the uniqueness of each team.

First team I thought of was OKC. But yeah, Mavs, Nets, Kings and even the Pels have shield-like logos. I find them quite boring. But at least they don't commit aesthetic crimes like that 2nd Hornet logo...or the Wizards logo.
Going through all 30 teams I'm actually surprised at how many decent designs there are. It's good that the 90s aesthetic has mostly been purged from the league. Hopefully the Wolves, Wiz and Cavs launch a redesign soon. Magic, Jazz, Kings, Raps, and Nugs could use one too. I think PHI and GSW have had the most successful recent redesigns. Brooklyn was just lazy.

On second thought, he looks quite happy to be crapping out a basketball.
