This article is the most scathing report on the "job" Jason Kidd is doing in Brooklyn yet, and it's from the great NBA insider Lord Woj himself. Let's just say I'm really happy we have T-Steezy for a coach.
The whole Brooklyn thing was for preseason hype. Anyone with .0000000000000000000000000000000001% of knowledge of basketball knew that was a disaster waiting to happen. But they knew that the ESPN's of the world were going to put it on their agenda and push it. I am enjoying this foreseen fall immensely.
I see parents talk about their kids the same way Kidd talks about his team. They are ok with complaining after things go wrong. Things went wrong though because there is more to coaching/parenting than just having power. The Nets as a whole are a cluster truck though.
The two New York teams made a big mistake last summer when they inflated fan expectations with Finals talk. Wojnarowski has two modes: the bitter ascerbic articles with no substance, like this one, and the short bits of trade news when he beats other writers. Let's hold him to his prediction that Kidd will be gone by February unless their record improves a lot.
There were warning signs but its was far from a guarantee to fail. We've seen most former player coaches with no experience fail, such as Magic. But Larry Bird was very successful.
I don't think it was that clear cut. If they'd stayed healthy (a big if), they would have been fine thus far.
It was a horrible decision to hire him, and I don't remember anyone thinking it would pan out. Kidd is a douche, he's always been a douche, and he'll always be a douche. It's funny because I could see a guy like Stotts walking in there and being very successful. Phil Jackson would be a great candidate, but I don't think they have the thoroughbreds to convince him to sign on.
No. It was destined to fail, IMO. To me, it screamed gimmicky, and injuries or not, it wasn't going to work.
To me, it wasn't Kidd as much as banking on Pierce and Garnett. They hadn't won in 3 years in Boston. Clearly KG is old and done, and PP is sporadic at best.
