Re: CJ won't play tomorrow Very smart move. For people that want to watch, hopefully they will have a game on the NBA Dleague channel on Youtube!
Re: CJ won't play tomorrow Great news. Get a ton of game-situation shots up. Get the rhythm of the game down before returning to the team.
Re: CJ won't play tomorrow Awesome. Perfect. Have to get him some court time before sending into the pressure cooker.
TRAIL BLAZERS ASSIGN CJ McCOLLUM TO IDAHO STAMPEDE Portland rookie slated to play Jan. 3 and 4 PORTLAND, Ore. (Jan. 1, 2014) – The Portland Trail Blazers assigned guard CJ McCollum to the Idaho Stampede, the TrailBlazers’ NBA Development League affiliate, it was announced today by General Manager Neil Olshey. McCollum (6-3, 197, Lehigh University), the 10th overall pick by the Trail Blazers in the 2013 NBA Draft, has been sidelined since fracturing his left foot in training camp. He was recently cleared to return to practice. He is expected to join the Stampede today and be available when the team hosts the Rio Grande Valley Vipers on Friday, January 3 and Saturday, January 4 in Boise, Idaho.
Re: CJ won't play tomorrow Now we wait for MM to come in here with the obligatory "send Meyers with him" post...
You're kidding right? To me, this only means that they are trying to get him into the rotation and want him to be up to game speed.
This is a great thing. He needs to get back into game shape and isn't accustomed to how fast the NBA is. The D-League won't be as fast or as physical as the NBA but it will be faster/more physical then college was. Also we can bring him up and send him back down 5 times this year so this is a great way for him to get more playing time then he would get on the NBA floor.
What is your big deal with trying to get rid of him? Did he insult you at a college game or something?
You may disagree, but there's still a distinct possibility that he might be ready to jump into the rotation this year.
