Calgary Stampeders head coach and general manager John Hufnagel is pleased to announce the re-signing of non-import fullback Rob Cote. As per team policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Cote, who had been eligible to become a free agent on Feb. 15, has been with the Stampeders since 2007. The 27-year-old Cochrane product made 16 starts at fullback for the Stamps in 2013 and his blocking work was an important component of running back Jon Cornish's successful season, which included a second consecutive rushing title and the Most Outstanding Player award.

Cote also contributed eight catches for 75 yards and one touchdown, three carries for five yards and nine special-teams tackles.

"Rob is one of the Stampeders' unsung heroes and is an important part of the team on both offence and special teams," said Hufnagel. "It's always great to have local products on the team and I'm pleased that Rob has chosen to stay with the Stamps."

In seven seasons with the Stampeders, Cote has played 111 regular-season games as well as nine playoff contests and was a member of the Stamps' Grey Cup-winning team in 2008. Cote has 71 career catches for 775 yards and nine touchdowns as well as 39 rushing yards and 58 special-teams tackles.

"I grew up as a Stampeders fan and I'm so proud to have played with the Stamps for my entire career," said Cote. "Re-signing with Calgary was an easy decision. This is a top-notch organization with a great group of players and I know we'll be a strong championship contender again in 2014."
