How the hell did that work so well? There were what, 5 or more possessions where Dame got matched up on him and almost all of them ended in missed shots? Does Stotts know the kryptonite to Dirk, defend him with a PG? Very impressive defensive game plan and execution tonight.
There were a couple where Dame just fought and got Dirk to not take his patented shot... It was nice.
If you keep a big on Dirk slightly past the FT line, he has a great ability to put the ball on the floor and either get to the rim and often get a foul, or at least get a dribble or two down to create more space to hit a jumper. With smaller quicker players on him, he's often forced to strictly shoot from where he's at. I feel like we've had good success in the past with Outlaw and then Batum switching on to him because of this.
It messed up Dirk's flow, and with the shot clock ticking and him not being in his prime, it paralyzed the entire offense for the Mavs. Great coaching by Stotts.
It's pretty obvious that Dame was punching him in the nuts when they were matched up. It's what I would do.
It's C I L L my land lord: On a dark and stormy night Kill my landlord, Kill my landlord Hear a dog bark, will he bite? Kill my landlord, kill my landlord. C I L L my landlord. Dead.
Yeah, he pulled a Reggie Evans on him. Note you don't see his left hand. Seriously, there was an article the other day that showed Dame's stats when covering a big on the switch. It isn't just Dirk. Dame bodies them well and keeps them off balance.
