The San Jose SaberCats announced today that they have acquired defensive back Simeon Castille in a trade with the Orlando Predators in exchange for defensive backs Andre Freeman and Syd'Quan Thompson, and wide receiver Quentin Sims. The team also announced that they have been assigned quarterback Craig Belton.
"We are excited to add a player with the experience level of Simeon Castille," said Owner/Head CoachDarren Arbet. "As far as defensive backs go, there aren't many better open field tacklers than Simeon."

Castille (6-1, 190, Alabama) spent the first two seasons of his AFL career with the Orlando Predators. Last season, he appeared in nine games and recorded 38.5 tackles (32 solo) along with 11 pass breakups and two interceptions. As a rookie for the Predators in 2011, Castille led the team and finished fifth in the league in both tackles (108.5 total tackles) and passes defended (29).

Castille has spent time in the NFL with the Minnesota Vikings, San Diego Chargers and the Cincinnati Bengals. He appeared in one game for San Diego in 2009, and made six tackles (five solo) and broke up a pass in eight games for the Bengals in 2008. In addition, he won a United Football League Championship with the Virginia Destroyers in 2011.

Castille played four years of college football for the Alabama Crimson Tide. Over the course of his career, he notched 176 tackles and 12 interceptions. As a junior and senior, he was named First-Team All-SEC as a defensive back.

Belton (6-6, 230, Findlay) enters his first season in the Arena Football League.

Belton played the final two seasons of his college career at the University of Findlay. In 2012, he completed 181-of-311 passes for 2,399 yards with 15 touchdowns to nine interceptions. Belton also rushed 46 times for 43 yards and a touchdown. In 2011, his first as an Oiler, he completed 173-of-312 passes for 2,021 yards with 13 touchdowns and fourteen interceptions. On the ground, he racked up 198 yards on 86 carries, and scored three times.
