Heard Tom Penn on the radio today. He was asked about Miami and he said simply there is no way the big 3 can be sustained beyond 1 contract cycle . He says Wade will stay on due to health it would be bad for him to opt out. Lebron and Bosh both left $15mill in the table to join Miami to be part of the big 3. Neither will do that again and both will be looking for max extensions, as they aren't going to take 10+ mill hits this late in their careers. So here is why Miami will be done. Both Bosh and Lebron will be looking for max deals which would be 35% of the cap each or about $22mill per season each. Wade is set to make $20 next season so those 3 players will be at about $64 mill alone, and only Chris Anderson, Haslem and Norris Cole are under contract next season combining for about $8.1 mil. So with 6 players under contract the Heat would be locked into $72 mill and needing to sign about 9 players. They also wold only be able to do so using the MLE and other exceptions/ vet minimums. This would then lock them into the repeat offended category and they would be on the hook for an additional $17.5 mill in luxury tax. So if Bosh or Lebron were to leave, why would the other stay to play with Wade and the scrubs left there?
Interesting, I totally agree on Lebron and his getting a max wherever he goes, however Bosh is making 21 mil, he deserves less not more IMO
Right now we don't even have our little three. Penn is right. The only way you could keep a big three through more than one contract cycle is if you get players on their rookie deals. If GO and Roy would have stayed healthy, we could have kept them beyond their rookie deals.
You put him back on the Raptors and he becomes a max player. He has accepted a lesser role with the Heat. He hasn't lost any of his skills. Just go back to the game in Portland. When LeBron was out, who stepped and was absolutely too much? Chris Bosh.
LeBron to Portland is the obvious solution. Start nic at the 2 and have Matthews become the 6th man. No more defensive problems as nic and LeBron can cover lillards man and their own. I think we can charm him with the weed and the rain.
