Re: UFC Fight Night 38: Shogun vs. Henderson 2 (Mar/23) 43-years old and still knocking guys out like Big George. Amazing.
Gotta say that second round for Shogun was a major brain fart. He bombed Hendo with that uppercut and proceeded to lay on him for several minutes in closed guard letting Hendo recover. Can't waste opportunities like that.
Re: UFC Fight Night 38: Shogun vs. Henderson 2 (Mar/23) No audible sound to end the first round in the main event. When Herb Dean stepped in it looked like he was waving off the fight (reminded me of Machida/Silva). After bringing the doctor in to (ever so briefly) look into Hendo's eyes he allowed the fight to continue. Was he waving the fight off or just signalling the end of the round? This one is going to be debated. To me he absolutely looked like he was stopping the fight. We've seen Dean wave his hands like that many a time. Lots of odd moments tonight. Way more point deductions than we're used to seeing. Shitty stoppage against Steven Siler. Brazilian crowd once again being perversely biased by giving barely any love to CB Dolloway for a great knockout and only slightly more to Henderson for another one. The UFC is creating this environment by pitting Brazilians vs. foreign fighters on every card.
Forgot to add that an unintentional clash of heads felled Scotty Jorgensen and he's none too pleased about it.
More strangeness: Bruce Buffer announcing that Henderson is 5'11 as the on-screen graphic says he's 6'1 The fact it was 90deg in the building with 90% humidity Practically every underdog won
Dolloway vs. Ferreira was a fight! Both guys throwing 100% power into their punches from the bell. Dolloway took the worst of it for about fifteen seconds until he backed Ferreira up with a stiff jab. They dove into another exchange and the only possible result was one of them getting KO'd.
STORMIN NORMAN PARKE @norman_parke 1h I know it wasn't the greatest of fights nor exciting..I did my best in the situation, stupid point deduction fucked it up! Parke apparently doesn't recall having a massive wad of shorts in his hand as he was taking Santos down. Might get away with a warning or less in Vegas but you have to be aware of where you're fighting.
I wonder when we'll see Hendo fight again? The LHW division needs about six months to reshuffle. Might not be until then, especially since he needs time to taper-off.
Well he offered to fill in for Vitor, so I assume he's ready for a quick turnaround. He usually likes to fight in early summer and then take the summer off to spend with his kids. And as I type this, its being leaked on twitter that the UFC is targeting him for UFC 175. No word on an opponent yet.
