No reason given yet, but Wednesday's Stout-Noons fight has been changed to a 170 bout, per @UFC_CA.

Re: Ultimate Fighter Nations: Canada vs. Australia Finale: Bisping vs. Kennedy [Resul

    Some thoughts...

This event was on too early! Holy shit. 7pm ET on a Wednesday? That's 5pm MT for me, with the prelims starting at what, 2pm MT? Who can watch this? Supposedly the turnout at the Pepsi in Quebec was about 5k. Not too bad. Side note: Pepsi is a derogatory term for Quebecer/Francophone in Canada. On to the fights...

Kaufman/Smith was the first one I saw. They fought their guts out. Sadly I don't think either one of them could punch a mosquito to death. They stretched the definition of power shots in this fight. Full credit to them for their effort level but the difference between men fighting and women was evident in this one. Kaufman is very technical. She wants to fight the winner of Tate/Carmouche. Sounds about right. With Zingano on the shelf and Davis lined up for a title shot I guess the options are limited. "Female Diaz" Smith is a gamer and should stick around the UFC despite her record. If there is any division a workmanlike fighter can hang around in it is that one.

Noons/Stout.... FFFFFFFFUCK. Stout has a great beard but Noons hit him with two follow-ups that had him on queer street. He didn't go out but his mind was shot and he tried to put Phillipe Chartier in a guillotine choke. Reminded me a lot of Hominick/TKZ. I don't know which of the guys couldn't make weight (presumably Noons since Stout has like 19 UFC fights at LW). He looked good but I think we all know what calibre of fighter Noons is already. I'm not sure where this win gets him, other than a little richer. Stout should be fine. He's earned his spot in the company.

Poirier/Corassani was the longest odds of the night but Corassani was fighting hard in the first round. Poirier doesn't fight safe which makes him exciting. I liked this fight while it lasted. Corassani wilted quickly when Poirier started building momentum. The fight didn't really make much sense given that it was a top-10 fighter against an unranked one but sometimes these things happen in MMA.

Laprise/Aubin-Mercier... I didn't watch TUF so this was my introduction to both fighters. One judge scored it a split for OAM so I have to chalk that up to some hometown cooking. Laprise had answers. He's dropping to lightweight which is arguably the most competitive division. Good luck to him. OAM looked too raw. He might need more time in the minors.

Theo/Westcott... I guess Westcott is a pretty decent grappler but he lit the fuse too early and looked exhausted from the second round on. Theo is brash and cocky and to be fair to him as an undefeated young fighter there isn't much you can say to that. Frankly the Canadian fighters in the UFC tend to be a bit Milquetoast so having a few boisterous guys among them isn't a bad thing. I imagine the UFC will try and get a second look at Westcott to see how he fights when he isn't jacked up on adrenaline.

Cote/Noke was more or less what I was expecting. In his younger days Cote was an action fighter but always a bit of a can crusher. In his later years he has transitioned into a stalling, positional fighter, pressing guys against the cage or, lately, using top control. Noke looked like the superior striker in the bout but his guard game needs work. The French fans were pleased by this result but the fight itself left a lot to be desired. It seems advantageous to pick coaches that will literally hate each other and fight harder.

Kennedy/Bisping... at this point we need to recognize that Bisping has a lot of miles on him. He has a bad wing, he doesn't move like he used to, and his badly damaged eye might be something that forces him to retire. I didn't realize his eye went all Shawn Michaels after the surgery. Shame. Except for brief moments in the second round he didn't look himself. Full credit to Tim Kennedy who has developed into quite the dominant grappler. Bisping is almost impossible to keep down and control so for Kennedy to do that is really impressive. The fight itself wasn't a barn-burner but I thought Kennedy made a big impression. The time is now for Kennedy given his age. As for Bisping, I don't know if he will be content fighting middle of the road guys. He might look for a few more paydays and call it a career. I would say that Bisping had a good career but might've underachieved. The UFC never gifted him a title shot and he was never able to earn one on his own. With guys like Leites and Cote getting their opportunities it makes you wonder if performance anxiety contributed to Bisping's ignominious record against ranked fighters.

Re: Ultimate Fighter Nations: Canada vs. Australia Finale: Bisping vs. Kennedy [Resul

I think the crowd would've gone wild for Steve Bosse (former NHL enforcer). Too bad that didn't pan out. If you didn't hear he was recently signed by the UFC and was going to fight at last night's event. Instead nagging injuries have persuaded him to retire outright.

Two-time Olympic gold-medalist Kaillie Humphries was supposedly in attendance. She has recently spoken about her MMA ambitions. She wants to compete in Bobsledding once more in 2016 then have a look at MMA. By that point she'll be on the wrong side of 30 with no background in the sport. Sounds like she's just using the UFC to promote herself. Bobsledders have a brand? It's not like she doesn't look like she can kick some ass, though...
