Psychedelics - Acid, DMT, shrooms , etc.

Float tanks - Sensory deprivation tanks

    Weed - Yeah, weed.

^ The reason why I started this thread. I may try this soon. Years ago when I first heard about these they sounded terrifying - quite the opposite now.

Isolation float tank. Watch that vid. It's something I think that would appeal to you.

As a hippie, I must say, the only deep experience I have never had, the one thing I yearn for, well you want it too, don't tell me you don't.

I'll never experience it, but it's listening to 3 hours of the Jeopardy theme song. No way could that be found. I'd be a hero if I did.

Sensory deprivation tanks are pretty legit. Its all about that mind expansion, and realizing what an insignificant meat bag you really are. Freedom.

Or one might just buy a decent mattress, excercise and get a good nights sleep to achieve the same results, then awaken fully to realize you may just be a significant meat bag. If the mattress doesn't induce deep sleep, turn on a bowling tournament and let it drone in the background.

Bro I did it and it's not even the same. It's sooo quiet and you feel weightless. No light either... It wasn't for me because I have ADHD or something. I can't lay down, being in total darkness and no sound. Scares the shit out of me.

our brains are so used to being inundated with a never ending runaway avalanche parade of sensory input, that when it is all stripped away, our minds make up their own input to keep us from growing overly indifferent to our solitude, where the mind can wither and die

the voices in our heads, the monsters under the bed, imaginary friends, shivers down your spine, etc

the tank is just a quick way to have them all come out and play at once, if you think you can handle that

I live in the woods, very, very quiet here. I've been in one of those tanks before and they do put you in a meditative state. So will meditation which I also practice along with yoga. I have mild claustrophobia though so I don't even like elevators. My biggest fear would be spelunking (cave diving)...I need a view and open environment to be truly comfortable. I'm sure it works best for folks in a stressful or urban environment. They have those tiny cubicles in Tokyo you can rent to sleep in. Sort of like space pods, just enough room to lie down in. Creep me right out.

had an mri done in one of the old tube style ones before and that was pretty crazy, and loud as fuck, they had me choose music for the headphones they had so i chose some smooth jazz shit they had, and the shlooped me into it, with a panic button in my hand in case i FREAKED OUT.

they said if i FREAKED OUT, they would pull me out and have to start all over again so they advised me not to FREAK OUT. they did say that if i FREAKED OUT there would be drugs. i decided it wasnt worth it in this instance, as i was legitimately concerned about the herniated disk in my cervical spine

you really cant move much, and you are staring at the inside of the tube a few inches from your face, so its a claustrophobics worst nightmare im sure... the smooth jazz was kinda quiet but still audible and i thought "this aint so bad.

and all of the sudden it was SEEYUUUUURP SEEYUUUUURP SEEYUUUUURP BANGBANGBANGBANGBANG BERFEEEEEKBERFREEEEEKBERFREEEEK BANGBANGBANGBANGBANG for about 5 minutes? and then silence and smooth jazz. that happened about 5 times. they forgot to mention the noise, for all i knew the building was coming down all around me.

it felt like i was in there for hours but it was only 20 minutes or so.

ive never been overly claustrophobic but that almost made a believer out of me

You should read a Carlos Castaneda novel. He was the college fad in 1970.

I don't mind this tank, if only they would unbind my hands.
