http://www.basketballinsiders.com/the-unintended-consequences-of-the-2011-cba/ That's a bit of a depressing article.
they really should have left extensions alone, there was nothing wrong with them from a competitive standpoint, just the owners saving themselves from themselves
I just don't see how we're going to keep LMA, Lopez, Lillard and Batum. Also Wes is going to want a raise. I think Lopez is looking at a $10mill a year. LMA and Lillard will be max players.
We knew the contract $$$ crunch was coming soon. Olshey and Blazer management will have to make some tough choices when that time comes.
If the team has playoff success, Paul Allen will open his wallet. Every team is facing the same limitations but the X factor will be players themselves wanting to get playing time and wanting to play on a great team with a supportive environment. The coaching style is also a big draw for vets. Mo loves Stotts style of play and apparently so do the rest of the starters. LA's hero is Duncan and Duncan took a paycut to resign Parker and Ginobli..LA could do the same as well as Wes and Rolo. Damian will get paid, count on that
I love it when people keep saying that as if it's a given. PA pulled the strings on his coin purse pretty tight the last few seasons.
I was referring to the last 7 seasons. We'll see if PA is willing to go over the cap when that time comes. I just find it funny that you think it's a given.
If I had to let someone go, I would let Wes go. Right now, I think Rolo, Dame, and LA are the most important players in the starting lineup. Rolo could be an All-Star. He's not flashy, but the guy is just so damn solid. I wouldn't be surprised if he got a nod or two. Nic is great, but at this point he would be a luxury and if we can only keep so many guys, he would be 4th on my list.
People used to say that the Clippers were the cheapest franchise in the league and wouldn't spend, once they had success, they sure spent big. Olshey was part of that. Again, trust in Olshey! Paul Allen does.
Every team needs to put the ball in the basket, 3pts, jumpers, layups and freethrows..we are better suited to scoring than most. Stotts is actually very good at getting guys in position to score. It's getting stops and converting at the line that will tell the tale.
Stotts knows the 3pt shot keeps guys closer to the other end of the court for transition defense if the shot doesn't fall, it's up to the players to execute on both ends and make that a factor. When we lose, we don't execute. Same with the entire league.
sterling was blasted for ditching lamar odom, darius miles, and quentin richardson, elton brand, im sure there are more, but losing those guys was probably a good idea
How many times has PA let a player walk because of money? Has it ever happened? If it has, it hasn't been very often. He may be more cautious in the last few years, but I think we can all agree he has needed to be.
Not one of those guys is worth what you say. The ony one who could fool another team into paying what you say is Aldridge. The new team would soon be sorry.
