Bulls announce they have waived Erik Murphy. I "predict" the next announcement is that they sign Ronnie Brewer. He worked out at Berto today

Transplant called this one. He doesn't qualify for playoffs, right?

He was waived before the deadline, so any team that picks him up can use him for the playoffs.

I like this move. Small? Yes. But Jimmy can't guard Joe Johnson, Lebron James, Dwayne Wade, Lance Stephenson, and Paul George all by himself.

I'm not sure how bad he is now (after all, he did get cut), but he looks like one of the few guys who might be able to get quality minutes at the end of our bench since he knows Thibs' defensive schemes, assuming he's still got something left.

The Nets are essentially starting 4 guards (Deron Williams, Joe Johnson, Paul Pierce and Shaun Livingston) and a PF (Mason Plumlee)...and it's working for them. Swapping out an entirely useless Murphy for an experienced swing like Brewer makes a lot of sense. As they say, "get 'er done, GarPax!"

The Bulls start a PG and 4 forwards. It works for us.

If the Bulls sign him, does he start?

    Yes, it's a serious question.

    No.

I think he's being signed for playoff matchups, and in case Snell gets stage fright in the playoffs.

The way it looks now we'll be playing Brooklyn & Miami in the playoffs and that's going to require a lot of wing defense.

And we all know how Thibs is when it comes to changing the starting lineup.

Dunleavy was brought here to be offense off the bench. He's going to have a tough time guarding Joe Johnson or Wade.

Brewer actually scores MORE than Dunleavy when given 30+ minutes, but it's been a few seasons since he got those minutes. Dunleavy is clearly the better 3pt shooter. Brewer a near lock down defender for us last time he was here.

To me it's shooting vs. defense and offensive flexibility off the bench.

Good signing if it happens. As some of you have already alluded to, he takes the place of Snell for playoffs. And...replaces some if not all of the defense we lost when Deng was traded.

Dont worry about his scoring. The way he plays around the rim and with Noah's passing, he will score as much if not more than Snell did.

Good call. Brewer has a great feel for the back cut and Noah's as good as it gets at making that pass.

Nobody is going to mistake this for a launch to a ring for the 2014 again Roseless Bulls but it is a solid move that makes sense nonetheless.

Really all things considered yeah yay. If LBJ had gone out for the season for the amount of time Rose has what would be the state of the Heat? Not that King J and JRose are equal but the point is the same. This season isn't over but while I have no expectations for a championship team this year the team has weathered the loss of the face of the franchise in remarkable fashion 2 years back to back

no we aren't in rock star minimum 8 peat mode. Thankfully the Fizer 3 Cs l'lil Microwave gonna save us era seems to be well past us.

Indy has imploded. It could well be the Bulls are the 2nd best team in the East. This isn't saying the Bulls are good, but that the East really sucks. Seriously, Toronto is a top team this season - enough said?

I mean, we've seen the Bulls go up against OKC and the Spurs and Memphis. If those teams were in the East, we'd have a much lower seed.

All that said, I wouldn't be shocked if we made it to the ECF.

As an aside, I think it's no coincidence we took off after dumping Lu and his salary. I truly have a lot of respect for the man, but the reality of the player is that he shot a low percentage and his shot selection was a lot of mid-range jumpers, the worst shot in the game.
