    THE FINAL TRANSIT BRIDGE NAME:
    Tilikum Crossing
    Bridge of the People
We asked you to help name the new transit bridge across the Willamette, and you came through in a big way! The Bridge Naming Committee reviewed nearly 9,500 submissions to find those that would connect and inspire—not just now, but 100 years from now—and best reflect the region’s history and culture.

The committee unanimously selected “Tilikum Crossing, Bridge of the People” for the name for the Portland-Milwaukie Light Rail Transit Bridge.

Committee Chair and historian Chet Orloff said the Native American name was selected because it holds the “most promise to connect the people of our region today with the long past of people who have been here for thousands of years, and to connect with future generations.”

It was a lot better than the other selections. I like it. We need to get more native with the names like in Vancouver BC with all their shit up thurr.

Something Oregon Trail would have been nice too.

You realize that it's for pedestrians and max only, right? Our city spent a shit ton of money on a bridge that very few people will actually use.

Because calling oneself a hipster is, in essence, not being a hipster. It's for others to call them a hipster because that's what they are.

SoCal once had one of the world's best public transit systems.

Until the oil companies bought it up and destroyed it.

For me, public transport is fine. My parents have a condo on the Gold Line so when I'm there I can use the rail system to get anywhere. Near me, I can walk 3/4 a mile, and take a bus down to Santa Monica or Venice. I usually do this on the weekends when its kind of sucks with traffic.

Its pretty simple actually where I'm situated.

I want to bike over that bridge and it pisses me off that for the past 3 months the two sides are a foot apart, it seems so close to being complete, yet the bridge isnt going to be finished for another year and a half.
