Two writers Jason Quick and John Canzano say the Blazers have Stotts hanging in the wind.
    And then this from Canzano

What do you think? Do you support Allen waiting until after the playoffs or are you on the side of the writers?

I say, it doesn't hurt to make the man earn his extension and to wait to extend him.

They're going to make a run at Thibs this summer.

    I'm calling it now.

    I don't think so.

The two need to keep in mind why we are even having this discussion. It was Allen who believed in him enough to give a third chance. I think Allen believes in him and will pay up in due time.

This is new. The Oregonian is trying to run the team. They want to make Stotts like them, thus obtaining an information source and cracking open a shaft of light to infiltrate the team's organization chart. Their method is to cast the paper as Popeye, Stotts as Olive Oyl, and their eternal foil Paul Allen as Brutus.

I've never seen the Oregonian try this before. Right.

I'm fine with waiting. The second half lull and the inconsistent defense are real issues and we don't know how he'll do in playoffs. I agree with Allen.

The paper wants to be buddies with Olshey too, so it has persuaded the suckers in this thread that Allen ordered him to not jump the gun. You guys believe everything you read.

Nothing "odd" here. Just business as usual, the way it's always handled in Portland. Only an idiot extends a contract before it ends or promises a new one before you see how the season ends.

What if we don't win a single playoff game and get horribly embarrassed by huge blowouts?

It's really annoying that they're running this shit now, but it's pretty much par for the course. Quick writes that bullshit article telling us we need to appreciate the team for what it is, and then he comes out with this horse shit.

Those two turd burglars simply can't stay away from controversial topics.

They only have power if you allow them into your heads. I appreciate Quick trying to get scoop and relating it, but it doesn't need to come with the drama.

It's a contract negotiation. Stotts' first choice may be to stay, but does anyone think he won't get another head coaching gig if we let him go? He'll be just fine, so I don't know why he would be worried. As for us, we should recognize a good thing when we see it. He isn't a perfect coach, but he's a damn sight better than he was in ATL and MIL.

I would have said, "Those two turd gobblers can't stay away from inventing controversy". You say "To-mayto" I say "To-mahto". ;)

There isn't wrong with waiting for the playoffs. That's when we'll realize both the roster's as well as potential coaches' deficiencies.

No kidding. Seems to me Stotts did not want to talk contract because he's focused on the playoffs, which is his job.

LOL, I like the image of LA "observing" how Stotts is treated. "Oh, no, they're waiting until after the playoffs to re-sign our coach; obviously they're going to try to screw me. I had better leave for greener pastures before it's too late!"

I think Stotts has already earned his extension. I think the size and duration of that extension will be decided by how well he coaches in the playoffs. There's no reason for Stotts or for the Blazers to commit to a number right now, waiting benefits both parties.

I think this is bring handled appropriately. The focus is the playoffs. Stotts and the Blazers shouldn't be talking about contracts publicly. It'll be addressed in the off season, as is normal, and any public address of it is just fluff and a distraction. But Quick and the Bald One are just up to their usual antics of making mountains out of molehills to drive traffic to their drivel.

What a fuck. Always about him. And no, he doesn't know that he's the right coach. He thinks he's the right coach, but what he thinks isn't worth a bag of dicks.

Another fuck, who thinks way too highly of himself and his worthless opinions. Not speaking about contract situations until the season is over is hardly "some odd, self-imposed policy" - it's par for the course! It's how 99% of NBA contracts are handled! Hiring, or re-hiring, guys making millions of dollars a year is hardly a "no-brainer". There are plenty of things to question about Stotts' coaching abilities, and after we see him in the Playoffs there may be a lot more questions.

Whether it's Olshey or Allen - or both - calling for the "wait and see" approach, it's the right approach. Stotts hasn't done anything to put him on the level of someone like Pops where you just say "Of course we're holding onto him."
