Whether they realize it or not, Glen Campbell had a strong influence on pretty much every guitarist playing in America today. What Indian tribe is he from? True he was an inspiration to many guitarists and was surprisingly good at it.
He was the reason I started playing guitar. My mom has photos of me at age 4 with my little guitar singing Rhinestone Cowboy while trying to learn the chords on my own.
He's in one of my favorite westerns. True Grit scene with The Duke. LaBoeuf: I wouldn't count too much on bein' able to shade somebody I didn't know, fella. Rooster Cogburn: [laughs] I ain't never seen nobody from Texas I couldn't shade.
Glen played with Carol Kaye, Al Casey, Leon Russell, all those studio guys that recorded everything from the Beach Boys to the Monkees. His work was on the soundtrack of my youth. May he rest in peace, he was a legend in the LA studio scene and a fine guitarist. By the time I get to Phoenix was my favorite Wichita lineman would be the runner up
