The Yankees have had 13 captains in there career.

The 1st one was pitcher Clark Griffith 1903-1905.

The Longest time between captains was 37 years, Lou Gehrig 1939 vacant until 1976 Thurman Munson.

The longest anyone has been Captain has been Derek Jeter 2003 to 2014.

And in a strange case of trading a captain for a captain, after the 1921 season the Yankees traded there captain SS Roger Peckinpaugh who had the helm from 1914, to the Boston Red Sox for SS Everett Scott who would become the new Yankee captain in 1922. But here's the kicker, the Yankees already had a captain in 1922, a guy by the name of Babe Ruth but after being thrown out of a game for kicking dirt onto an umpire he then went into the stands to confront a heckler. He was fined, suspended & striped of his captaincy. So they promoted the new guy Everett Scott as there new captain. Go figure.

    Just thought I'd share.

I heard & read stories of Ruth being difficult to deal with but I never knew that he ever went into the stands after a fan. And what prompted the Yankees to make Scott the captain after only being on the team for a month & a half is just strange.

Who will be the next Yankee captain? Is he on the 40-man roster now? Is he in the organization yet? Could we go decades until the next captain?

Honestly, I don't think I'll see another Yankee captain in my lifetime. And in answer to your question NO! he's not on the current 40 man man roster.

Not so sure Rick. The Steiny kids know this business, there is historical precedent prior to the Iron Horse to have short term captaincies. I could see a guy like McCann or Gardner be named Captain.

I wouldn't mind the JoeJah Bulldog being a Captain.

He has the perfect make up, to knock an arrogant pompous opponent on his ass before he crosses home plate, that is if they walk around the bases after a HR.

Recall him doing that before., as a Brave....NOT IN MY HOUSE.

I'd love to see The Rockies Gonzalez getting a catchers mask buried in his face, and knocked backwards driven into the ground, the pompous ass I have NO RESPECT for, and to think this fok was once on the Local Single A Lancaster Jethhawks of the California League, inducted into the A club HOF last summer.

I always wanted to carry a bottle in to knock him out as he crossed 3rd base, from my front row field level seat between home and 3rd. The SOB was met with as many boooos from the homecrowd as cheers, from those who think showing up the other team is worthy of passing on to their Little League Kids.

Did I say I can't stand that son of a mule? A-Gon my ass, A-Ass is more like it, so yes, lets see the Rockies come to NY, wonder when that is on the Yanks schedule, its only a matter of time.

Ellsbury or Gardner are my top two in the 25-man squad... if Sanchez pans out, maybe him...

    Me 3, good stuff Messiah....

Uncanny, I went out last night, bought a six pack of premium beer. My first 6 pack purchase in 5 years, (no kidding).....

I'm a bit shocked no beer company sales Computer Monitor Shields, for beer drinking computer guys, spewing a geyser of suds on our screens. My wife trained me to keep a damp sponge and fresh clean towel to the side of the Screen/Monitor.

This place has caused more spills, than the Exxon Valdez, and Gulf of Mehico's-BP Deep Horizon oil spills.

It's a wonder this P.C. is still working, due to the hilarious nature of this GREAT Message Board.

some of the best comedy I have heard, read in years, resides right here from the greatest minds, I have yet to meet, yet feel as if were all one big family....

    LMAO

    Define premium beer...

I don't drink anything someone can see through... the lightest I drink is Blue Moon or Yuengling Lager but I very much prefer Guinness and other stouts like Murphy's Stout, Magic Hat Stout, or Nitro Milk Stout by Left Handed Brewing Company among others...

My only rule is don't drink anything that looks similar to piss as it likely tastes like it as well...

Guam? na... You've never heard of Guinness? Really? Blue Moon? Yeungling? Really? I understand not Murphy's or Nitro, but the other 3? You must be living under a rock if you haven't heard of them....

And Bud is piss, pure and simple.... let me revise that... Coors light is piss, Bud is camel piss...
