https://twitter.com/ESPNSteinLine/status/458250643967180801 For all he did for the Blazers so many years, he has my respect and thanks, and a wish for a peaceful retirement.
Mike Woodson was fired this morning. http://espn.go.com/new-york/nba/story/_/id/10815529/mike-woodson-fired-new-york-knicks-coach
I would retire too if I had to coach the shittiest wannabe star PF and PG that couldn't throw a brick into the ocean
I didn't mind Rick when he was here, sad to see a solid coach go out with a poor performing team. Recruit Love to PDX and slide Nic to "6MOTY". Boom Championships. That's a scary thought actually...not that we could afford Love...but if you could get Nic to buy into a Cliff Robinson role and front a starting 5 that can punish on the outside at will or the right or left post at will.
Rick Adelman will always be a Blazer to me. He was an original one in uniform and second only to Dr. Jack as a sideline general. This is his home. Enjoy a happy, healthy and well-earned retirement, Coach Adelman!
A while back at least I heard. I ran into him when buying an xbox 360 in like 2006 at Circuit City (do they still have those anymore) haha
Shout out to Coach Adelman. 23 years and a fine career. Now he can take closer care of his wife and I hope she recovers well. Rick was a great coach back in the day
Rick Adelman and the Sacramento Kings were the 2002 NBA champions. Donaghy describes how Game 6 was rigged http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3436401 analysis of each ref's calls in Game 6 http://www.82games.com/lakerskingsgame6.htm Game 6, mass media all agree it was rigged (8 minute video) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qjRcTiwVEwo Game 6, entire 4th quarter (41 minute video) http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xuzges_lakers-vs-kings-game-6-2002-wcf-entire-4th-quarter_sport
I brought up this very series when the Rockets fans claimed there had never been another game more rigged than our Game One.
That was when the refs let Shaq do whatever he wanted against Sabonis one year and Divac the next. After the Lakers beat Sacramento, I was so mad that I boycotted the Finals. I hadn't missed them on TV for 30 years. I figured I was the only one. The Finals ratings were the lowest they'd been in years.
I give fans a lot of leeway in how they react after a loss (or a bad draft/trade/whatever), for usually the first night and half the next day. If they're still bitching about it over a day later? I almost feel pity for them. But then I remember there's no Pity in the Rose City. And then I remember that's from the Timbers, not the Blazers. And after that I get hungry.
Adelman has been my favorite Blazer coach of my lifetime and I was always happy when he had success that wasn't against the Blazers. He has dealt with a lot of personal shit the last two years and I wish him a great retirement.
He's moving back to Portland. Stotts had better beware. A couple of years ago, Terry Porter lived here a year, but a Blazer coaching job didn't materialize, so he left.
