    It's an automatic ten games for using an illegal substance.

    When Kay was reading the rule I thought I heard him say that it was an automatic 8 game suspension.

    ...ten game suspension is for the minors...Torre will decide Pineda's penalty. Pineda didn't really do anything many pitchers have been doing for years, but he simply was too obvious about it.

    ...Pineda is young and part of the blame should fall on Jeter/Girardi/Rothschild for not advising him...now the rotation will be out of whack for awhile.

    I'm sure he was spoken too and decided to so it on his own anyway. Yes, a lot of pitchers use something for a better grip but you cannot be so obvious about it. You also have to be a complete idiot to do it against the same team just a short time later. Farrell even said before the game be more discrete about it. In other words he didn't want to do this but when you make it so obvious you're asking for a problem.

    The thing about suspensions for pitchers is if its 8 games it doesn't mean 8 starts. So if he pitches every 5 days he'll really only be missing one start.

    ...like I said in the other thread, messiah, the Yanx had already been warned about this...either Jeter, Girardi, or Rothschild should have schooled him and monitored him

    I was going on 8 games as 3 of the last 4 suspended pitchers received. so in that case we're talking one start. But even 10 games it may only come as one start depending on when the actual suspension would start. If it goes down today, his next start would have been April 29th against Seattle & that would be the 6th game of the suspension. So he'd be available for the next start which wouldn't come until May 4th which would be game 11. But I'm sure we'll all know soon enough.

    Even Lackey was clearly going to his hand for something to improve his grip last night. He just didn't have obvious pine tar smeared on him as most guys use something colorless. Like the sunscreen rosin mixture that just needs moisture to get a little sticky.

    true...

    Can't suspensions begin retroactively? i.e. if the suspension was handed out tomorrow... could it "begin" today?

    ...among other places, you can find it in messiah's link.

    "PENALTY: For violation of any part of Rules 8.02(a)(2) through (6)
    (a) the pitcher shall be ejected immediately from the game and shall be suspended automatically. In National Association Leagues, the automatic suspension shall be for 10 games."

    Pineda, yes should of been schooled better. I doubt Pineda would of used pine tar to begin with, had it not of been for his mentors informing him, what and how to use, to get a grip. NTM-his slider bites like it has eyes in it, when he's got a good grip.

    That being said, tho- Pineda is making a mockery out of the game, out of being a proud Yankee. Pine Tar on the Neck, WTF-its not halloween. The cameras picked it up so fast, and the world is watching, and now will be moreso.

    What bothers me more than the pine tar....the way he sloppily, wears his hat brim off to the side. He reminds me to much of today's kids, who wear hats with the price tags, and New Era Authentic tags still dangling off the hats. NTM-the big sticker on the brim top too. Some fad, some ignoramus kids think, MORE BLING.!!!

    Let Pineda buy his own hats downtown, and keep the tags on it, and BLING...there ya' go, no one will see the pine tar, they will be to busy chattering about his Hat Bling....(keep the tar in the glove,better yet get some clear pine tar, and put it in the glove).

    It has little to do with the uniform; and way a player dresses, but has everything to do with UNIFORM Sharp dressed MIND-Set of a player. Paying attention to the most minute of detail in one's dress and code of conduct.
    ~~~*- A UNIFORM and SHARP MIND-SET= A UNIFORM SHARP PLAYING TEAM......
    and.....dresses proper, plays beyond the norm, paying strict attention to every detail, always improving their play fundamentally-day to day. A Team without a Uniform mind is not a TEAM, rather a bunch of individual commodities.
    ~~~*- Sloppily dressed teams, play sloppy, and their coaches are usually sloppy too. A problematic matter for decades, in which some coaches get it, and some never will. Some players get it some don't. For those Managers/Coaches who do get it, their responsibility is to pass it down to the Team, and Enforce it....!

    ~~~*- What are todays players teaching the kids who emulate them.....does anyone other than Jeter get this one?
    Izza need to learn how to get a point across in 20 words or less.
    Hey 59, I will be over tomorrow so you can tutor me, how to get right to the heart of the mind, in as few words as possible, and still drive home the point.
    My mind wanders to much, call it the Canuck blood in me, or perhaps I did to many drugs, alcohol, and other illicit things as a young man, prior to getting edumacated..! LMAO.
    ...hey man, the trick to keeping things simple is to pretend you're always responding to the mentally impaired...or rick, same thing.
    Did Yankees know they obtained a nut-job......players
    today are so dense & less professional. Pineda is
    foolish and very selfish......NOT a team player. YEP.
    See ya in 11 games. He misses 2 starts.
    Thanks a lot....for your professionalism!
