If Embiid checks out and has no red-flags I don't see how you can't seriously consider is if you're Neil/Paul. http://fansided.com/2014/06/05/nba-rumors-cleveland-cavaliers-acquire-lamarcus-aldridge/#!WTWa2 (Credit: D69 over at Clubblazers found this gem)
Who is fansided? I think there is a small possibility they would move LA for the #1 pick, but I don't think it will be to take a 7 footer with a known injury issue. Been there and done that. Jabari Parker or Wiggins. And maybe in that order.
Yeah but that was hypothetical -- "if the Cavs called tomorrow....." Seeing that they really are chasing LMA, I think it deserves it's own thread.
Here is the Sam Amico "bombshell" that Fez Hammersticks just posted as being newsworthy. http://msn.foxsports.com/ohio/story/cavs-report-on-a-new-coach-kevin-love-and-that-no-1-pick-060514
I don't like it but I agree with you, Maybe I should say I'd be hesitant just like any other Blazers fan.
There is no sure fire superstar in this draft so if im trading my best player I want to make sure im rebuilding. Since we wont be rebuilding even if we trade LMA id turn the #1 for LMA down. Sent from my SM-G900P using Tapatalk
I'm one of LA's biggest critics on this board but I still think we would miss him if he's traded. With that said, if we can get most of his salary as cap-space and Dante Exum I think it's worth it. Wouldn't trade him for Embiid (too risky) or for Parker but Wiggins and Exum I really like. Exum I think fits better with our roster.
Again, if there is even the slightest doubt in the minds of Blazer brass that LA won't re-sign here, then you will never get a better offer than #1 plus whatever perhaps. You have to look at this seriously if you are Portland. Maybe stay away from the injured center with the number one overall pick. That hasn't been the best move for Portland.
Fwiw Before Embiid declared he got advice from long time family friend Luc Mbah a Moute and ....Nicolas Batum. They don't share the same agent, how are they connected?
Yeah for as much as we all can speculate and argue on both sides, I would imagine Neil has at least a decent idea of what Aldridge is thinking, and would be in better position to trade him if he knew that possibility of leaving was strong
Is Embiid from Cameroon? Wasn't Nic's dad from there? Pretty sure Nic has ties there-- I think he and his mom run a charity or something there if I remember correctly from twitter.
Not to mention last year and the year before. Trade an all star for an unknown. A young all star. So glad that the board is not GM.
