    Here's why a trade on the night of the NBA draft makes sense for Denver: If general manager Tim Connelly truly wants to add a piece that makes a real impact at getting the Nuggets back in the playoffs, he won't probably find it with the 11th pick in the first round.

    Yes, I watched Saturday as skinny, 19-year-old UCLA guard Zach LaVine defied gravity during a workout with the Nuggets. He's an athlete, no doubt. But the 6-foot-5 guard is also about as weighty as a whisper. And has LaVine, who averaged 9.4 points per game as a freshman for the Bruins, learned how to run an offense? Unless Denver's primary goal in 2015 is to win the slam-dunk contest, LaVine isn't the answer.
