With so many ideas and debates on who you'd take in the late/mid/early first round there isn't a better player for what this team needs than defensive-minded Clint Capela. Assuming we keep LMA of course ( ). He's not getting a lot of hype like Gordon or Payton but the analytical guys love him. Everyone one of them have him in their top-3. Likely a low-lotto, mid-first pick. Kevin Pelton's top-30 prospect WARP projections: (Hickory-High) Andrew Johnson's P-AWS projection: (HoopsAnalyst) Ed Weiland's PF rankings:
Wow, watching some highlights you can see potential in both body growth and game skills. You never know with the draft and international players but he seems exactly like the type of player that an already really good team gets as a steal in the late first round. Adding this guys intense play style to the roster would be an nice move. This is the first time I've seen him - certainly has some nice timing on defense. He'd be a nice pick up if we can nab a first round pick somehow.
A PF who's not allergic to dunking? Who blocks shots at the rim? Who can dribble the basketball? Color me intrigued!
He's slated to go #20, so I don't think we have a good shot at him. Here's his breakdown: http://www.draftexpress.com/video/8860/
Bump. The Rockets are trash but Capela has emerged into a legit player. Dunks everything close and is a smart defender. It took one year of seasoning. That should make you feel optimistic about Vonleh/Alexander - pessimistic of 4th year project Meyers. He is putting up a double/double as a starter and is currently posting a 25 PER. Rocket fans agree: Clint > Dwight.
He has looked real good when other teams are super relaxed on defense because the rockets are horrible and have usually lulled them to sleep.
Bump. These projections have been fairly accurate of Clint. So far, he's #7 on basketballreference's MVP rankings - and has been ranked in the top-10 all season. For those who play fantasy bball - pick this dude up.
