Mark Hughes, the New York Knicks director of pro personnel, is a finalist and strong favorite for the Detroit Pistons’ assistant general manager opening, a league sources informed CSNNW.com.

Hughes, 47, recently interviewed with Stan Van Gundy, the team’s head coach and president of basketball operations, and “made a good impression,” one source said, who each spoke on the condition of anonymity due to the sensitive nature of the process.

Many around the league view Hughes as a fast-rising front office star.
