Okay, so I'm being lazy, as I'm sure all this info is somewhere in this forum, but 1. What is the maximum we can sign Mo for? 2. Can we sign-and-trade him, and would it be in his interest (i.e., would he get more than if he's signed outright by some over-the-cap other team)? 3. What happened with the Mavs? Are they going to sign him, just working their way through other FAs, or did they cool off on him? 4. Has anybody Blazers-related mentioned still considering signing him even after getting Steve Blake?
3.1 something million. I was told you can sign and trade him. Mavs said they want him I haven't seen anything lately about the Blazers wanting to re-sign him lately
The Mavs can only offer him the BAE or the minimum, I believe. They've expressed interest and said they hope he'll go for it. The Blazers can offer him a maximum of $3.15M which is a bit more than twice the BAE.
The Mavs have the $2.7M room exception available to them. I don't see any realistic options for a sign-and-trade with the Blazers because they don't have any contracts to send back that we'd want.
How're things with Mo and Lebron? Did they have a falling out over The Decision (the first one)? Because otherwise I could see him in Cleveland.
I suppose that's a possibility, assuming Marion would take a significant pay cut to play here and the Blazers were willing to commit to him for three years or so. Crabbe plus a re-signed Mo for Marion?
I think Marion would have signed somewhere already if he was going to get decent money. Or we just cut Crabbe if it came down to it. Doubt this would happen but there are options (or at least option).
To me the signing of Blake closed the door for Mo coming back. I don't think Neil wants to add aging mentors at this point to come off the bench andWill and CJ are showing they could be sparkplugs off the bench (fingers crossed)
I believe you can during the summer. But by October 30th (or whenever the season officially starts) you have to be to a maximum of 15 players on your roster.
Are you sure about this? I assume you are right but I previously thought it was by the start of the season? What happens when teams do a 3-1 trade and they temporarily have more than 15?
There's no such thing as temporarily having over 15 guys under contract. You buy somebody out, waive somebody or trade them but only can add a roster spot player after freeing a spot which could occur with a trade that swapped a player. We couldn't trade Allan Crabbe for 2 players for example. Unless you cut another player or traded 2 for 2 but nobody wants Allan Crabbe so there's that issue
Yep, I know the Knicks (and probably others) have been at least 3 over the 15 player limit in the past and needed to waive players prior to the start of the season to get down to the 15 player limit. I know you can go into training camp (and I believe preseason) with more than 15 so you can decide who you want to cut/keep. It gives you a chance to evaluate the marginal players and figure out who best fits your needs/system. BNM
I thought the question was about the regular season. Didn't know you could have 20 under contract at anytime though, learn something everyday..thanks
