Adam Silver and NBA are counterproductive

    [TWEET]491617200180965376[/TWEET]

As many know, dame is one of the players in the Philippines who was to be involved with this event. If the NBA really wants to branch out then why would they prevent events like this from happening?

I can understand they want to prevent injuries and what not, but how can they fine these guys for playing basketball?

    This is some bullshit imo.

Will Dame be fined by NBA?

I've noticed he's in Manila doing a bunch of camps and other events.

Re: Adam Silver and NBA are counterproductive

Ultimately, Silver is probably acting on behalf of the teams, who are probably against this. In general, teams don't like basketball activity that they can't organize and control, due to the chance of injury destroying their (the team's) big investment.

I remember that Michael Jordan specifically negotiated a clause in his first big contract allowing him to play pick-up basketball wherever and whenever he wanted.

No wonder Griffin and George backed out at the last second. "Urgent Personal Matters," indeed...

Of course the NBA is against it - the owners aren't making any immediate profit off of it.

Making new fans? Growing the game? Who cares about that stuff!

The NBA is a plantation system, and it's players are slaves.

Unsanctioned probably just means a disclaimer from insurance liability. I understand why they don't want their stars out for a season with injury to play a pickup game in the Phillipines. The Nike allstars travel asia and perform and are sanctioned by the league to do so. It is a business.Maris...I hope you were being sarcastic because these are wealthy guys in a free world. Slaves might be a bit of a stretch you think?

If they are slaves on those paychecks, what is the rest of the world?

Really, I'm appalled you would say that! There's no apostrophe in "its".
