Ya another person tweeted it as well. That is one way to keep the Cavs from getting him.

Or at least drive up the price. I don't see Love as a particularly good fit for the Bulls. Wouldn't be surprised if Minny is just using Chicago's offer to push up Cleveland and GSW's.

If Love ever was a good fit for the Bulls, he still is.

    IMO

The Bulls are kind of stuck as to what they can do immediately, since some guys they've signed can't be traded for 30 days and others for months.

Chris Sheridan says it's Gibson, Mirotic and McDermott. As Denny alluded to, this deal can't be completed for about a month because Mirotic and McDermott just signed their rookie deals.

Personally, I think this is too much.

    Seriously? I think that's a slam-dunk-you-have-to-do-it sort of deal.

You only have 240 total player minutes in a regulation game. I think Love will produce more in 36 minutes than those 3 will in 36 or even 72.

The offseason would be a huge upgrade, regardless of giving up those 3. We'd have gone from Boozer/Taj at PF and backup C to Love/Pau. I don't see how anyone could have a beef about that. We'd also have gone from one 20+ PER player (if Rose is healthy) to two.

I feel like this is everything many of us hoped to avoid this summer: overpaying for a B - level star.

An A+ post about a B level star. Nice work.

Love wants to be paid like a max player, but he isn't one.

He doesn't play defense, and he disappears in the clutch.

    Last season:

    Season- .457 FG, .524 eFG%, .821 FT
    Clutch - .356 FG, .425 eFG%, .659 FT

Giving up Taj for him is one thing, but McDermott and Mirotic? No thanks.

EDIT: Not that Mirotic is getting traded anywhere, just responding to the rumor.

    Per 82games.com definition (+/- 5 points in last 5 minutes of game) - 41

    Last 10 SEC, +/- 3 PTS - 19 times last season

Last 10 SEC , +/- 3 PTS - Love was 0/6 from the field (0/2 on 3's) and 0/3 from the FT line

6 FGA and 3 FTA seems like not very many to come to any firm conclusion about his abilities.

Is opponent's PER of 14.2 good?

This would shift the Bulls firmly into "win now" mode. Most NBA Champions don't consist of a mix of veterans and rookies who need playing time / years to develop. Most have a core of vets. The Bulls need a secondary scorer. He's a All-NBA 2nd team guy, and he's productive now and will be productive for years to come. Not the top guy on a champion, but he would be the 2nd or 3rd best player on this team, assuming Rose is close to the old Rose. That seems like a great role for him. The Chris Bosh role.

The Bulls have a core of Rose - Love - Noah to build around and still have Butler, Snell and Gasol.

Gibson isn't likely going to be better than he is right now. Mirtotic and McDermott are both of course wildcards. Best case, will either be all-NBA 2nd team in the next couple years?

If you want to "win now" I think that this a trade you would strongly consider. Sets you up to contend this year and gives you 1 offseason to shore up the holes with ring chasing role players to really get after it next season.

Rose - Love - Noah would be the next "big 3" in the NBA.

Its intriguing to think of what McDermott or Mirotic could become some day, but we know what Noah is NOW and we know what Love is NOW and we hope that Rose can be what he was. If the goal is "win now" you make that trade, IMO.

    Well said, K4E.

No brainer to do this deal.

I don't believe the deal is real, though.

There is no deal. There is no objective scenario where a deal can be had. Having interest in a deal on one side and being interested on the other side are different issues.

Therefore nothing to be brought up next January, February or March, or now until then for that matter, right?

The Bulls would surely like a deal but IMO any deal possible would be short bus/wide door for Minn.

According to my source in Madrid, the Bulls gave Mirotic and his agent Igor Crespo assurances that Mirotic would not be traded by the Bulls if he could come to terms of a buyout with Real Madrid. And the Bulls are certainly not going to go back on their word, as it would set a horrible precedent for other players in Europe.

And without Mirotic in the deal, the Cavs' offer of Wiggins, Bennett and future picks is much better than Gibson and McDermott (and "other assets").

It seems fairly obviously that this entire rumor was started by the Wolves in an attempt to get more from the Cavs in a Kevin Love trade. Taj Gibson was told that he is not being traded when he showed up at the Berto Center today, and I believe him.

Bulls making push for Kevin Love

Sources say that the Bulls, though, have re-entered the race and would appear to be the biggest threat to the Cavs thanks largely to the Golden State Warriors' resolute unwillingness to add longtime Wolves target Klay Thompson in any deal.

Although the full extent of the Bulls' offer wasn't immediately known, it is believed Minnesota would seek a package from Chicago featuring forward Taj Gibson and defensive ace Jimmy Butler in addition to other assets. The Bulls shelved their Love interest while trying to sign Carmelo Anthony away from the New York Knicks but, according to sources, have re-emerged as contenders.

Bulls general manager Gar Forman said Wednesday that it's the team's "job to have conversations with everybody around the league and get a feel of what's happening, who might be available."

"Anytime there's something that is available that we feel could improve our team, we've got to take a look at it," Forman said Wednesday on 87.7 FM in Chicago. "That's our job. But we like where we're at with the additions that we made."
