Very nice although I hope you have plenty of .22 ammo, it's tough to find for some reason. The gun currently on the top of my wish list is a Sako 30 06 with a decent Leopoldo scope for hunting. I got to shoot one at a range, light, smooth like butter, and was more accurate than anything I've ever shot. But the setup I was using was near 3k, so I doubt I'll be able to step into one anytime soon. This is very similar to the one I used.

Your post sent me down a rabbit hole, thinking about .22 calibers. I have a 10/22 that's basically stock. I have been wanting to upgrade, basically make it a better target shooter. Anyway, I found a nice green mountain barrel and over molded hogue stock combo for only about $150. Add in a little trigger work and I should be able to hit a quarter from 50m repeatedly. Nice thing about .22's cheap to buy, set up and especially shoot(if you can find the ammo). Your mp5 in another 9mm is going to cost almost three times as much, and shooting it is Aldo going to cost 5 to 10 times as much.
Yeah that's why I got the .22 version. I have a couple AR-15 that shoot .223. I got a PTR-91 that unloads .308 rounds. Now that's an expensive load!
Want to see something fun, check out the tactical solutions Gatling gun. It just takes two 10/22's and puts them together with a crank for firing. Completely useless, but looks fun as hell. Blast through 100 rounds (2 X 50 round mags) in a few seconds. And it's totally legal without tax stamps even, although for you the ten round mags would apply I think, ruining it. Anyway, total setup including the guns would be less that $900.
The MP5 is fun as hell to shoot, but you sure burn up the ammo. Did you consider a Slide Fire stock for your AR? (Not as cool if you have CA compliant mags, though.) That's awesome Mags! Love the MP5, H&K is the premier gun manufacturer in the world imo. And like others have said hopefully you can find some 22lr. Your best bet is probably online.
It very hard to find cheap 22LR. If you are willing to pay 2-4X the old prices (3-4 cents per round), you can buy any kind of 22 ammo you can think of, and some brands that you've never heard of. If what we read about Mags here, I doubt that the cost of ammo is a big factor. Go Blazers

EDIT: If you are buying for a semi-auto, make sure the ammo you are buying is either high velocity or hyper velocity. "Standard" velocity or sub-sonic do not cycle well in a semi. The lower velocity ammo is more accurate, if you are buying for a non-semi. Go Blazers
Oldguy, what about for a ruger mark III pistol? And would it cycle better if I bought a LITE mark III since it would take less force to move the lightwight metal? I'm planning on picking one up just for plinking and target shooting. And I already have a bunch of ammo but most of it is the cheap federal bricks. A small amount of high velocity CCI.
