I think Mein and Rory MacDonald were both pros at about 17.

Trained in MMA from the beginning. New generation.

Collard/Holloway is a catchweight fight, apparently.

Quick stoppage or mercy stoppage by Big John? Bendo looked like he was in trouble.

I managed to see the last four fights.

Holloway/Collard was my pick for FOTN going in but I didn't know what a scrapper Collard was. He burned off all his energy in the first three minutes of the fight but had the heart to keep pushing until late. For a guy fighting on ten days notice he made an impact and probably got himself a UFC contract. Holloway is a great young fighter who was patient in taking advantage of Collard and eventually earned the TKO. One of those rare fights where neither guy seems a loser afterwards.

Leites/Carmont was interesting. Carmont is a fairly one-dimensional ground-and-pound fighter and you might call Leites a one-dimensional BJJ fighter--except he has blasted out his second straight opponent since his 2014 UFC return. Leites is 10-1 since 2009 with his one loss to Horwich avenged in 2012. He looks like a fighter reborn. He's rushing into the top-ten right now. Carmont suffered his third straight loss but I would be surprised if he is cut. His opponents of late have been quality.

Mein/Pyle was brutal. Mein (occasionally) looks like a world beater. Mein was supposed to fight Thiago Alves or Brandon Thatch and I'd be happy to see either of those fights happen. Mike Pyle's 38-years old and suffered his second first round KO in three fights. I don't suspect he'll retire but he probably needs to be fighting more ordinary (unranked) opponents.

The main event was a bit of a shocker, right? R2A came flying at Bendo and save for Big John's intervention looked like he was going to pummel him. I thought the stoppage was early but not totally unjustified. Bendo was dropped twice in about three strikes and his eyes were pretty glassy when he crawled up from under McCarthy to protest. Bendo's been the beneficiary of a few split decisions in the past so I think his sentiment after the fight (take the good with the bad) was about right. Melendez is pretty much the only guy for R2A to fight right now unless he's willing to fight someone ranked well below him. It's been a year since Pettis last fought and his injury problems are really fucking up the division. Everyone is just milling around.

From what I saw it was a great event overall!

I totally had forgotten about Leites, haven't seen him fight since he lost to Anderson.
