...thus far, both Headley and McCarthy have panned out, so I have to agree with the statement. Neither cost the Yanx very much in return.

ok, but he went on to state how Cashman is doing more with less, how he's putting together a great team... etc.

...I read the article twice just to make sure, and I didn't see that anywhere.

...IMO, the really big move some of us are hoping for may not happen at all because it would probably cost the Yanx some of their best prospects...this is something that Cashman has avoided so far. Not sure which prospects were involved in the Smardzjia (?) and Hammel talks but the Yanx where in discussions with the Cubs and the Yanx either didn't have enough to offer in return or refused to offer enough to land either or both pitchers.

I know its to soon to heap any kind of praise on Cashman for his recent moves but so far as Ron said both Headley & McCarthy have looked pretty good. Lets jusy hope for 2 things at this point, #1 that both of them continue to be a benefit to the team, & #2 that Cashman is not done. We still need a solid bat in right.

I really like the McCarthy and Headley moves. Now I'd he can add a SP, 2nd baseman and RF. I will then be a really happy camper.

I understand that any big time deal for an arm was to include Cervelli, Solarte, Roberts and either Ichiro or Gardner. Cashman couldn't work Johnson into the deal and they all fell apart.

Solarte seems to have regained his early season form in San Diego.. Good for him.

My point was more that his inadequacies led to the need for the trades.... Plus I believe it's way too early to call Headley & McCarthy successes....
