First there's the guy named MARTIN & the announcers pronounce it MAR-TENE.

The last inning they pronounced a players name as O-DOOR & the spelling was clearly ODOR,

    Just a pet peeve.

That may be the case with Martin though I've no doubt he's always been called MARTIN because of the spelling but ODOR? I think its just a case of the poor guy not wanting to be saddled with the nick name of STINKY!

...no, because one grew up in Cuba and the other Venezuela. And in those countries they'd be more likely to mispronounce my name and yours than theirs.

We also have the French, Cajuns too.

Iowa in Luzianna (Louisiana-for the English) pronounced by French predominant Cajuns, as I-O-WAY.....

Richard or Richards, pronounced Ree-chard, Ree-chards......

Roy = Wah.....French too....keep in mind, in Luzianna, entire small towns exists, where NO one speaks but a bit of English....

    Martin in French, is Mar-tan

In Spanish Martin equates to Mar-teen....

In Georgia I live in Houston County, pronounced there as How-ston....not French, Brittish/Southern pronounciation...

just saying, those cultures who's own words are actually French or Spanish, yet are mis-prounounced literally by English, or Americans...

BTW- Meant to say, if ya' watch enough NHL Hockey, or other Hockey, you will see as much the "other" pronunciation of names we oft take for granted phoenitically, as somewhat otherwise pronounced....
