TL;DR Less ice allows winds to create bigger waves which breaks up more ice, which allows for even larger waves still. And less ice as we already learned means less heat reflected, and more heat absorbed in the water which melts more ice.
My goodness, it seems like we are nearing the end of the warming period in the interglacial cycle. But no worry, the sea has risen about 192' already. only a few more inches to go.
But then, back in the day of the Eromanga Sea, the over all ocean level was about 600 feet higher than today and the reason the Eromanga Sea existed. The reason was somewhat like what you report as stated here. "Why was Antarctica warmer? But because South America and Australia were still attached to Antarctica 100 million years ago, strong currents of warm water were probably directed down from the equator, keeping the temperatures up. A climate extreme these days like drought in Australia is caused by the El Nino effect, which is just a slight warming of the surface of the South Pacific. So you can imagine that a really radical change in ocean currents would make an even bigger difference to the weather.
