Just saw on ESPN a link (Rapid Reaction) about the new additions that in addition to Drew playing 2B, Headley would be at 3B, & Prado in RF...

I find that to be curious...

Steve, Drew has never played 2nd base. Prado will probably play 2nd & Drew will be a back up.

    ...so did Lyle Overbay.

...Headley has NEVER played RF...and there's no reason whatsoever to weaken yourself defensively in two different positions when it's not necessary. Ichiro is a natural RFer, Headley is not...Headley is a natural 3Bman, Drew is not. Headley has played well at 3B and there's no reason to mess with his head by forcing him into a position he's not familiar with.

You keep Headley where he is & if they must put Prado in right I'd rather see Ryan at 2nd base. Defensively he'd be 100% better then Drew at that position.

The best thing going for Drew is that Johnson is gone, now put Drew in the Clubhouse washing uniforms.

That works for me. Maybe next season (if he's still here) and he has a full ST under his belt he'll look better, but as far as this season. I really don't see him being any help at all. Not to mention that his worth will not be ANYWHERE near the $14M he turned down from the Red Sox at the beginning of this season.

...problem is, Ryan is a black hole on offense.

That's why I said defensively. Offensively he's pretty much an equal to Drew.

If I am not mistaken, Drew is Anemic with a bat, and believe he's not hit .260 or higher since 09....?

I'm not impressed with Cashman....but then what does he have to deal with....not much...! Oh Well, that's his fault....and our problem....!

I don't think Ryan is pretty much equal to Drew offensively.

Drew is a .261 career hitter with a .756 ops
Ryan is a .236 career hitter with a .615 ops

    Drew hasn't reached 260 in 4 years.

Yep, Drew's BAvg, has gone to shit, If I'm not mistaken he hit .261 last in 09, and has'nt come close since.....to replicating that .260+ B'Avg.

...and Ryan has average .196 the last 3 years.

...Drew is better than he's shown so far...Ryan is not.

I really liked getting Prado for this year and next season. I am hoping Drew surprises us with his bat. Ryan I wish was no on this team. He will be here next season also. I am still very worried about the pitching. A waiver deal or two has to be made. These young kids and Capuano (give me a break) cannot hold down the fort.

Overbay - played 4 games in RF for Yanks in 2013, began career in 2001 and had never played the outfield prior to that.

Headley - has played 196 games 1695.1 innings in LF

Prado - has played 403 games 3110.2 innings at 3b,
    245 games 1997.1 innings at 2b,
He has played 252 games 2096 innings in LF and a grand total of 2 innings in RF.

If Prado can "play" RF a few times for the Yanks, so can Headley.

The point is - it is possible for the Yanks to have Headley, Prado and Drew (2b) all in the lineup at the same time.

I loved Lou Piniella, but if he could stand around in RF for the Yankees, especially at Yankee Stadium, so could Headley ..in a pinch.

Of course I agree the best set-up would have Headley at 3b and Prado at 2b.

No doubt Drew has been much better than he's shown so far. His late signing, (thank you Scott Bore's Ass [wasn't Boras Drew's hold out agent?]... has Drew in about a May mode. Holding out didn't do him justice; hopefully Drew's yet to hit his stride this year. Hopefully a change of scenery will light him afire, well something more than what's he's done or not, this yr......
