You look at the lineup and you say ok some decent names. Then you look at the averages and this season is no surprise.

3 complete for the Yankees and not even a damn hit yet. I didn't think it possible but this team is even more boring than last years team.

Top 5 two outs & no hits by the Yankees, down 1-0 and than.........

    A walk to Drew
    A double by Prado
A 2 run single by Gardner
    A single by Jeter
    A single by Ellsbury

And just like that the Yankees lead 3-1

You'd have to ask the Genius that makes out the lineup. Maybe he just wants to give Drew more wasted ABs.

Good show today, Yankees finally get a series at the Tropicana Trash can. Per MLB the Yankees 30 games won this year scoring four or lees runs is tied for 2nd best in Baseball. Looks like like the rookie & the old man outpitched the vaunted Tampa Bay Staff opponents. Hope the Rays snorkel under .500 for the remainder of the season.

9th so he could have less chances to fail. Did this really need explaining?

...yes, it DOES need explaining, because he only bats 9th ONCE in the game.

C'mon Ron you're better then this, it doesn't take a genius to know that as you go through the lineup during a game that the guys in the lower part of the batting order get less chances to bat then the guys at the top of the order. Please say you knew that.

...uhhh, I'm gonna go ahead and win this argument and be done with it

....The worst hitter in the line up does not automatically bat 9th...it has a lot to do with what side of the plate they hit from and who is batting in front of them as well as who is batting in the #1 spot in the order.
...Brett fucking Gardner spent near the whole year about 2 years ago batting 9th...was he the worst hitter on the club?...of course he wasn't, but after once through the line up he batted in front of Jeter, who batted 1st.

...as you pointed out in another thread, both Prado and Drew were sucking wind offensively since joining the Yanx (both batting below .200)...Other than giving you an obligatory opportunity to blindly bash Girardi, what fucking difference does it make which one is batting 8th or 9th?

Apparently the NL never got the memo. They seem to think that the worst hitter in the lineup (in this case the pitcher) should bat 9th. What a bunch of morons.

...wtf does the NL have to do with what we are discussing?...last time I checked, Drew plays for the Yanx and the Yanx are in the AL.

The entire NL puts there worst batter hitting 9th. Prior to the DH the AL put there worst hitter batting 9th. (pitchers) They did this so they would end up having fewer ABS then the better players hitting further up in the lineup. And even now in the AL 90% of all lineups put there weakest hitters in the 9 hole so the'll get less ABs. The fact that Gardner hit in the 9 hole for most of last season was very unusual.

DAMN! there's a few minutes I'll never get back.

...again, wtf does the NL have to do with anything?...we're talking about the difference in Drew batting 8th or 9th. He batted 8th because the guy behind him (Prado) was RHed, followed by Gardner who is LHed, followed by Jeter who is RHed, yadda yadda yadda...any of this simple lefty, righty, lefty, righty, etc. concept sinking in yet?
...and get your facts straight,...read what I said again, I said nothing about where Gardner batted last year (he only batted 9th 3 times), I said about "2 years ago"...in 2012 he was hurt most of the year but batted 9th more than any other spot in the line up...and he batted 9th because Jeter batted 1st...in 2011 he batted 8th or 9th half the year and when he did bat leadoff it was usually because Jeter was hurt.

...aside from batting lead off, during his career Gardner has batted 9th more times than in any other spot in the line up, combined.

...but you are right about one thing...you completely wasted "a few minutes".
