Johnny Manziel gave the Washington Redskins the middle finger after a third quarter incompletion during a 24-23 preseason loss by the Cleveland Browns.

Manziel flipped the bird toward the Redskins after the play that unfolded in front of Washington's bench.

Manziel said he had "words exchanged" with the Redskins and that he should have been smarter.

"I felt like I did a good job of holding my composure throughout the night, and you have a lapse of judgment and slip up," Manziel said.

Asked in his postgame news conference if he thought it was wrong, Manziel smiled before laughing.

"I mean, I didn't think it was a positive," Manziel said.

The NFL no doubt will review the tape, and Manziel will be subject to an $11,025 fine

I agree, fuck the Redskins and Snyder.

Manziel is an over-hyped piece of shit too though.

Is hating on manziel the new "hipster" thing to do?

Fuck the man always holding me down!

Manziel isn't afraid to tell it like it is and a little attitude never hurt anybody.

Well, at least he is exciting. He may not be good but he sure as hell is can't miss TV (sorta like Tebow).

He's being paraded around on places like ESPN as the next Timmy Tebow, the next great white hope. It gets really old seeing them hype the same several people constantly.

I'm not on the bandwagon, and there's a large part of him that just makes me think, " spoiled douchebag".

But the kid did some solid things in college. Solid things. He happens to come from an affluent family, is white, has a lot of self-confidence even if he is quite brash. He has a lot going for him. I see a lot of haters out there hating, though. While he did a lot in college, he's done nothing in the NFL (let's not forget that he's never played a real NFL game). It seems, to me, most people are intrigued because he is heavily scrutinized and the microscope is affixed to him. But I still see more people writing him off than those that genuinely believe he'll be a long-term starter in the league. And while I don't think he'll be a star, I don't think it's fair to write him off yet. If he puts in the work and effort to learn the game and play with more control, it's not unfathomable that he could become a Drew Brees-level of QB.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
He's being covered as breathlessly as an Andrew Luck or RGIII caliber prospect and he's not that caliber of prospect. He's much closer to a Geno Smith level prospect. I'm not saying they'll both have equivalent NFL careers, but I don't think Manziel comes into the NFL with significantly greater promise.

It's possible that a mid- to late-first round caliber quarterback (and I group Manziel, Smith, EJ Manuel, Teddy Bridgewater and Derek Carr together over the past couple of drafts, even if Smith and Carr technically dropped into the start of the second round) could become a star, but I don't think Manziel is clearly more likely than the others of that group to be a star or superstar.

Me either. My life is better for not having ESPN trying to tell me what to watch. :)

No, Brady Quinn was never really cocky. Just not a good player.

Manziel is like the QB version of Cortland Finnegan.
