Its pretty boring, the people seem a lot ruder than Portland. I mean if you're rich as fuck, its probably pretty comfy and they pay well, but most of the suburbs out there seem like hell and boring crap. Traffic is pretty bad, 1000s of people crowding into parking garages to get to Nordstrom Rack, etc. What's the appeal? No state income tax is nice, but it seems like a bunch of fucking zombies that live out thurr. :MARIS61:
Los Angeles is better... how, exactly? Please, oh please, tell me how the traffic is for Los Angeles and compare it to Seattle.
While drunk and sober, I had some good burgers from Red Mill Burgers. Toulouse Petit is good. Serious Pie is also good. I think you would appreciate those two.
You mean, when you can see it through the smog? It's a misconception that everyone loves sun and wants it all year round.
Start an LA Sucks thread then. For most of it, I would agree with you. But the year round Mediterranean climate is awesome.
I've been to Serious Pie, didn't really like it all that much. Been to Red Mill, it was pretty good. Bookmarked the 3rd one.
The downside from Portland is housing is more expensive, cocktails are more expensive, and parking is more expensive. The transit system sucks overall. No Blazers. The draw is you are near the water, there is a whole lot more going on in Seattle than Portland, there are a lot more outdoor opportunities (I think); a lot more parks; actual neighborhoods instead of sprawl without distinct neighborhoods; great views; I think the restaurants are great. Sports Radio is a lot better here too. I know Portlanders like to hate on Seattle (I probably did too). Fact is that most Seattle people actually like Portland. Whenever I mention I used to live in Portland, they say they love it. I think the hate seems to only go one way (except for UW/UO which is a whole different story).
