In 1996 Paul O'Neill led the Yankees with 96 RBI. That was the last time the Yankees fielded a team where a player didn't reach 100 or more RBI. This year there's a strong chance no one will reach 70 RBI. Currently Ellsbury leads the team with 54 with around 40 games remaining.

And if that isn't depressing enough not since 1992 when Mattingly led the team in batting with a 288 average has there been a team where no regular player in the lineup battered under 290. This year no Yankee regular is hitting 280

Its a shame we've got wait 8 months to see how much better this will be.

Footnote to the RBI numbers mentioned above, With Ellsbury currently leading the team with only 54 RBI,

Over the last 50 years (In a non-strike season) the team leader in RBI had less then 80

    Tom Tresh 74 in 1965
    Joe Pepitone 64 in 1967
    Roy White 62 in 1968
    Jessie Barfield 78 in 1990
