Okay I've gotta say this & believe me, even if I thought Girardi was the greatest manager since Casey Stengal I'd still say this, The Yankees just had runners on 1st & 2nd with nobody out & Gardner up. Now I'm guessing most managers would have Gardner sacrifice the runners over for obvious reasons. #1 you put 2 runners in scoring position with less then 2 outs & #2 it keeps you out of the double play. But.....like I said, MOST managers. Result Gardner hits a ground ball to 2nd & almost hits into a DP but beats the throw to 1st. So now instead of 1 out with runners on 2nd & 3rd we have 1 out & runners on 1st & 3rd. For those of you that missed it Cervelli grounded into a DP. Inning over. A DP that wouldn't have happened had Gardner been instructed to sacrifice the runners over. And Cervelli's ground ball instead would have resulted in a run scoring from 3rd. Seriously even you Girardi lovers have to be scratching your heads on that decision.
