Damian Lillard is not out of the loop completely when it comes to his summer involvement with Team USA and FIBA World Cup competition in Spain.

Prior to being left off of the final 12-man roster last week, the Portland Trail Blazers’ All-Star point guard was informed that there could be a possibility he’d be added to the roster if one of their players, in particular Derrick Rose who has been dealing with knee soreness, was unable or opted not to continue the journey, a league source told CSNNW.com.

“He’s the player on deck,” we’re told.

So, he's going to play, is what they are saying.

I'd say fuck 'em. Stay home and mesh with the Blazers deeper.

Rosters have to be finalized 24-hrs before the tournament starts and the first tip is approximately 36-hours away (and about 45-hours before the first USA game).

If Lillard is going to be put back on the roster - he hast to find out tonight so that he can get on a plane to Spain ASAP.

D Rose just stunk up the Slovenia tuneup match. I don't think it's a fluke that Dame is on deck. I doubt they'll call him up though. If Rose crumbles, Thibs wants it to happen before the regular season.

Nice of Damian to say yes, but also pretty fucking humiliating. It's like someone saying "well, I turned you down for someone I actually liked, but then he got run over, so you'll do."

I'd be pretty humiliated too if I was #13 out of the 12 best players, too.

That's actually a totally legit point of view if you're rich, which in terms of opportunity, team USA is. To quote a great song:

The supports have never been on the baseline so why would we do that? Even in HS basketball you have at least 3 feet of baseline area...

Maybe using a better bumper on the uprights would be the way to go. Something less rigid than they currently use
