Smoltz stated that having seen Jeter play despite current stats presented by Joel Sherman that if the Yankees made the playoffs he'd still want to see Jeter in there. Despite having never have played between the lines Sherman presented stats on Jeters 2014 performance stating Brian Roberts was a better player and released. Then critiqued Girardi for not pinch hitting or using Drew and Ryan as defensive replacements in late innings. He also insinuated that Girardi was not "standing up" like he did in the same manner as he did to Joge in '11. I've always respected Jeter as one who if in his own mind though he was hurting the team would step up, admit to it and I still believe so.

Sherman is an asshole. Where was he when Jeter was a consistant 272 hitter foe the 1st 3 months of the season? (April 272, May 275 & June 272) And where was he the entire month of July when he around 290 for the month? Hell Jeter was hitting near 280 on the season as early as August 5th. So now that he's slumping over the last 20 games Sherman thinks he should hang up his spikes. What piece of shit.
