Most TV addicts these days, prefer streaming services like NetFlix (NFLX) for their daily dose of TV. That hasn’t stopped DVR giants TiVo Inc. (TIVO) from going all out to increase their market share. TiVo recently announced the introduction of the behemoth that is the new Mega DVR with an astounding 24 terabytes of storage capacity. The closest thing to compare to it would be TiVo’s previous model, Roamio, which had one-sixth of the storage at 3TB with an expandable 1TB slot.

Putting that into perspective, that’s around 4,000 hours in HD or three years in Standard Definition. For most people, that would be enough TV for a life time. “Unleashing the couch potato” would be an understatement for the Mega DVR. The idea behind this device was that many TiVo users had to constantly delete old shows to find space for newer ones they liked; so to fix that, the device was made with enough memory to never have to delete anything ever again.
