Despite a four-hour standoff with SWAT police at his home in Florida and threatening his estranged wife and her alleged lover at a nearby BJJ gym, Thiago Silva has been acquitted on all charges. Silva's wife returned to Brazil and without her cooperation police have stopped pursuing Silva for what was two counts of aggravated assault with a firearm and, presumably, resisting arrest. Never mind the allegation that Silva put a pistol in his wife's mouth--and the fact that Silva has failed two drug tests during his career--the UFC is ready to take him back based on the acquittal and he will reportedly return to fighting in the New Year. Silva spent one month in prison before posting bond, IIRC.
Re: Thiago Silva acquitted, UFC opens door to return So let me try and understand the UFC's logic... They have two former fighters currently in the public eye for spousal abuse (War Machine & Josh Grispi) and there is a much bigger scandal involving Ray Rice in the NFL, yet they are going to give Silva a free pass because his wife fled to South America instead of cooperating with the investigation?
Re: Thiago Silva acquitted, UFC opens door to return And like that he has been cut again. Rumble has also been indefinitely suspended.
Re: Thiago Silva acquitted, UFC opens door to return Silva was cut after the UFC allegedly viewed and reviewed a video of his behaviour on the night in question. Holy shit is this real life? DJ supposedly knocked his GF's teeth out in 2012 so he's on thin ice as well.
I highly doubt that. DFW is probably gonna keep him indefinitely suspended throughout the year and reinstate him when this blows over.
